No, I've never read that before.

I agree that the police are the main problem but the BBC made huge errors even going on information that Savile made readily available to the public. In the aftermath of a fifteen year old dancer committing suicide, he readily admitted to dating dancers from the show who were virtually all in their teens. He was 45 then but somehow the BBC thought he was the ideal candidate for a show where he made little kids dreams come true.

This is not a hoax! Me and my husband have seen it twice on tv and the script is accurate because the whole thing was shocking and we have spoken of it for many years. The first time it was shown we were open mouthed at the language and that was a stand out moment for shock and awe.Seriously cringe worthy,Pauls utter contempt and saviles flippant blatant admission was a just jaw dropping. Concerned the denial was made public as there must have been millions watching, and all of us going WHAT!

From the link above (above). I wonder if that's a joke post or they really believe it.

I bet they are anti vax if it’s real.

Just reading the script makes it apparent that it is an invention.

All the same, there were irritable exchanges on air between JS and Paul Merton as I described. If you missed it, you weren't paying attention, slackers.

He was on with Diane Abbott:

I expect he was on more than once, being so popular and all.

"Feared by every girls school" or something was what he said.

And when he turned up on celebrity big brother as a special guest he I introduced himself with "I have a terrible reputation for violence but you have nothing to fear from me"

Jack Dee speaking many a true word in jest

he readily admitted to dating dancers from the show who were virtually all in their teens.

I remember Jonathan King being interviewed after his conviction in 2001. He was of course a repulsive individual, but the one quote that bites in the context of Savile was 'If they had been girls, no-one would have batted an eyelid.'

Possibly but they may have been biased against for his terrible music ,shite tv programmes and generally looking a wrong'un.

He was like Jimmy but without the police protection.

This morning on innocuous r4 prog Saturday Live there was a jaunty interview with a woman who as a child was put in a sanatorium for TB.

She was meant to be in for 3 days but ended up there 4 years from the age of 9. So far so casually harrowing. And then just as an aside she let slip "I'm amazed this happened really...".

They all had 'boyfriends': - penpals who were soldiers stationed in Germany. And they used to write them letters that they didn't understand, like her 13 year old ward mate asking her what "have you had carnal knowledge yet?" meant

I heard that interview too. Horrifying detail just slipped in as an aside. Rev Richard was clearly trying to move the interview along at that point.

HouseOfLametta - 17 Oct 2021 10:17:50 (#17038 of 17198)

I liked him when he was in the Commodores.

Rev Richard was clearly trying to move the interview along at that point.

"Look, have you seen Noel's House Party? That's the kind of show it is; keep it light."

Verdigris - 17 Oct 2021 11:27:12 (#17040 of 17198)

Yes, it was a bit of an awkward moment.
