So:

  • Kiddly fiddler?
  • Corpse toucher?
  • Other? (please specify)
  • All of the above?

Yesterday I watched Surviving Nygard, a recent CBC documentary about the fashion mogul/abuser. He makes Epstein look like a good catch, and various police forces are still slow to act.

Childline was initially assumed to be about kids being generally mistreated. The sexual abuse had a low profile.

You only have to look at the recent grooming gang scandals to see how poor things still are. The victims were let down time and again by the police and local authorities.

Not to mention the fact that some police (certain members of the London Met, for example) appear to be more on the side of the perpetrators than the victims.

Yes, exactly.

#17263 agreed.

I must admit, when I think of "real men" I rarely think of gold lamé cycling shorts and an orange string vest.

In these cases much was made (by the usual suspects) of the police being reluctant to pursue the abusers because they were Asian, and the police were afraid of being called racists.

I would suggest that the reluctance to do anything was less to do with the perpetrators being brown and more to do with the police not seeing the abused girls as victims.

They weren't nice middle class girls who'd been attacked and dragged into a dark alley. They were troubled kids who drank and got into trouble with the police, who apparently associated with their alleged abusers by choice. The police just thought they were slags who were 'asking for it'

this is partly down to a lack of understanding of how grooming and sexual coercion works, but also indicative of the polices attitude to victims and the vulnerable.

in the 70's the police effectively colluded with Savile because there was a certain entitlement as to how women we supposed to accept unwanted sexual attention from men, perving on vulnerable young women was just what men did, it was what they did. Savile exploited this and cultivated such predilections to his own advantage.

50 years on, i'm not sure that much has changed.

Funny you should say that.

Saw the Netflix documentary.

What was shocking news to me was that there were seriously injured kids

in hospital whom he sexually assaulted.

As for GUT/NTT, I think that on this very thread there is some story

about him appearing on HIGNFY.

Can't remember the details but it seems there were questions about whether such a program was ever actually broadcast.

Well there are pictures from said program with Saville sitting with Ian Hislop and formally denying everything. Nothing said about show's broadcast

so I presume it was.

Dayraven - 16 Apr 2022 13:22:37 (#17270 of 17327)

There’s no argument about whether he appeared on HIGNFY, but there was a fake transcript going round.

Although fine in the wrestling world.

He did like to remind everyone of his connection to the Royal Marines and how he had been given an honorary green beret.

I have never understood how some, loud, self promoting players of records/ tunes become multi millionaire stars. This cunt even looks like the sort of guy he's accused of being.
