Mis-sold PPI

I was probably mis-sold PPI the National Girobank in the Eighties, N/G was taken over by Alliance & Leicester which was taken over by Santander, are my chances of a claim zilch or even less than that?

I spent three years of my working life in the PPI resolution section of one of our major banks, Tomnoddy. This stuff is etched on my poor fried brian.

You have my sympathy. There's always a few years of one's career spent in contact with morally reprehensible elements, in my experience. It tends to colour one's view of the firm.

There was real cognitive dissonance there. Our unit was headed by a bank lifer, who’d worked his way up from a branch teller at 16. He just couldn’t cope with the idea that this firm at which he’d spent his life had behaved so badly. Lots of rants about “a few bad apples in the selling teams” and “customers trying it on for free money”. Yes, that’s why they payout bill is in the billions - a few scammers.

The ombudsman says that I don't have a case, as there's no proof. So say Santander, so I'm writing it off.

Ah yes, similarly if you had a mortgage with the Cheshire (taken over by Nationwide) the paperwork goes missing.
