Great music from the last 20 years. I'm struggling

NYE I put together a playlist solely composed of people who had died in 2016. Last week I was doing that Facebook thing, 10 albums that influenced your teenage years. I'd find it hard to do either for music of the last 20 years though. Help me out here, what have I missed?

I fear you may have to talk to someone younger than myself.

This time frame coincides with when internet became bigger than The Beatles and when I lost interest in new music.

I am currently listening to Underworld ("Shudder/King of Snake" specifically), though I expect someone will come and complain that that's not good music at all. It is from the past twenty years though.

All the time, man. All the time. And I am in my mid bloody forties.

Yes. They also go to the cinema, read books and listen to Radio 4. My brother even sends me c90 mix tapes.

Arcade Fire's 'Funeral' is a great work from the last 20 years.

HenryM - 21 Jan 2017 20:32:20 (#17 of 400)

I'd forgotten about Kid A. Never listened to most of the rest, which I suppose is partly down to having lived outside the UK for most of the last 20 years. That and Napster/Emule/YouTube/Spotify allowing me to disappear down rabbit holes of Jazz Fusion or Heavy Metal or Baroque Strings rather than purtting the radio on.

(That list is broken down by year, so you can skip the earliest ten years.)
