later Kate Bush

Slightly surprised, but I'm getting into her later stuff where she just sits at her grand piano and just wibbles around. She's got such a particular musical voice.. dreamy, passionate and psychedelic.. I presume she then sends her stuff in to a producer who adds some elements to make it 'market ready'.

Later Kate Bush

Would that be after she came out as a Tory ?

opaz__ - 26 Nov 2018 22:09:49 (#4 of 76)

No

opaz__ - 26 Nov 2018 22:10:05 (#5 of 76)

"came out"

lol

FredDee - 26 Nov 2018 22:12:47 (#6 of 76)

there were several people on this board who were genuinely shocked that she did.

opaz__ - 26 Nov 2018 22:14:04 (#7 of 76)

I'm not that surprised actually. These boards

I was wondering where you were splitting between early & late. I did some some research & have divided her canon into 4.

The Kick Inside 1978, Lionheart 1978, Never for Ever 1980.

The Dreaming 1982, Hounds of Love 1985.

The Sensual World 1989, The Red Shoes 1993.

Aerial 2005, Director's Cut 2011, 50 Words for Snow 2011.

And then I reckon the best is the first album, followed by HOL, then TRS & then Aerial probably.

So I don't know.

opaz__ - 26 Nov 2018 23:14:01 (#9 of 76)

Interesting.

Think I might be homing in on 50 words for snow and Ariel

opaz__ - 26 Nov 2018 23:15:18 (#10 of 76)

I sometimes see articles about remixes and definitive collections etc, but I'm never quite sure what they're talking about

ZimAgain - 26 Nov 2018 23:18:52 (#11 of 76)

After The Sensual World it's meh, AFAIC.

SaffronSunrise - 26 Nov 2018 23:20:06 (#12 of 76)

I think Director's Cut was a largish combination of remixes & new stuff. And she's now taking Rolf Harris off of Aerial & reissuing that.

Is what I think that I know.

ZimAgain - 26 Nov 2018 23:23:10 (#13 of 76)

Replacing the Trio Bulgarka with her brat on Deeper Understanding was just one of the mistakes on the Director's Cut.

opaz__ - 26 Nov 2018 23:23:52 (#14 of 76)

Yeah I heard about the rolf harris thing. In fact I heard him in my ear buds earlier today. Co-incidentally, ending up at specsavers, sat next to child who i smiled at as she was trying on new glasses, slightly worried in case people thought i was perving

halfnelson - 26 Nov 2018 23:31:44 (#15 of 76)

The Sensual World is my favourite. I also really like The Dreaming, although I think it had a rather mixed reception on its original release.

Peacock - 27 Nov 2018 08:43:12 (#16 of 76)

Would that be after she came out as a Tory ?

genuine LOL

RosyLovelady - 27 Nov 2018 09:43:26 (#17 of 76)

?

Peacock - 27 Nov 2018 09:46:10 (#18 of 76)

pertinent question Rosy. What's KB's political opinion got to do with her music?

RosyLovelady - 27 Nov 2018 09:48:29 (#19 of 76)

I don't understand why anyone finds it so explosively comical, that's all. It must certainly have put a crimp in her image for a number of former fans.

opaz__ - 27 Nov 2018 09:51:50 (#20 of 76)

Just listening to Sunset from Ariel.. beautiful shift into flamenco. She's got some clever people around her
