Best one for me was Ordinary Corrupt Human Love by Deafheaven

with honorable mentions for:

Collibus for their excellent second album Trusting the Illusion

Ghost with Prequelle

Judas Priest's spectacular return to form with Firepower,

Immortal's first album without Abbath, Northern Chaos Gods, was entertainingly daft,

Primordial's Exile Amongst the Ruins was very good as well

Idles - joy as an act of resistance

I only appear to have one album tagged "2018" but it's a good one. Cellist Clarice Jensen's debut album "For This From That Will Be Filled".

The best track is her collaboration with microtonal composer Michael Harrison (a close associate of La Monte Young and another pupil of Pandit Pran Nath, like both Young and Terry Riley), "Cello Constellations" which is worth the price alone.

The title track exemplifies her technique of combining the sound of her solo cello through an array of FX to create an minimalist/ambient/drone landscape.

Nice.

I don’t seem to have bought any 2018 albums.

I have listened to some of Jon Hopkins’ Singularity on streaming, because JH is The Kind Of Thing I Like In A Certain Mood.

Ginmonkey - 27 Dec 2018 10:16:07 (#8 of 28)

Janelle Monae - Dirty Computer.

I was also going to nominate Drunk by Thundercat but that seems to have been released in 2017.

It's not his best IMO.

Darkhorse, you’ve killed HMV!

TRaney - 03 Jan 2019 20:05:06 (#18 of 28)

Is dh £50 bloke? (Who was a sort of proto-centrist dad)

darkhorse - 03 Jan 2019 20:43:35 (#19 of 28)

I was too skint in the days of £50 bloke to be £50 bloke when he was a thing.

TRaney - 03 Jan 2019 20:44:29 (#20 of 28)

It’s a metaphor!
