Snarlygog - 12 Jan 2019 22:24:41 (#1 of 17)

Ozric tentacles. Paper monkeys, Erp land etc. Ideal back ground sounds.

There's no such thing as background music.

Twin Peaks soundtrack, possibly.

bossab2 - 12 Jan 2019 23:30:33 (#6 of 17)

Tubular bells is good ( as is Oldfield generally )

Pentecost - 12 Jan 2019 23:31:46 (#7 of 17)

If this is anything like what music should you play while working on the database extracts that if you work on them diligently will deliver results that make a difference to your corporation and possibly to your career, then the answer is none. Focus means focus. It does not mean have a distraction.

On the other hand, it is something of a cliche that surgeons in the operating theatre insist on having opera played to them. I wonder how much that cliche is fact-based.

Sabacious - 12 Jan 2019 23:36:06 (#9 of 17)

It’s because they’re working on repetition, not trying to create something.

Ebadlun - 12 Jan 2019 23:38:08 (#10 of 17)

Music is great for tedious, non-creative work (documentation, or a tiresome but not difficult code refactoring).

Can't deal with it for anything that requires real concentration.
