God, it's worse than Italian pop.

If the whole thing's not done by AI yet, it soon will be.

It may not be worth listening to, but some of it is worth looking at...

Isn't k-pop organised by the local mafia?

CarlosFandango - 23 Mar 2019 07:16:40 (#5 of 22)

I'd rather eat the box, frankly.

Oh, sorry, that's Special-k.

I've always liked how hard the Japanese pop/metal bands are prepared to go.

Babymetal are great and while discovering them I also found FruitPochette who also KICK ARSE!!!

both real crap made by computers

FrankieTeardrop - 11 Dec 2019 14:40:42 (#13 of 22)

You say that - but perhaps Baby Shark is the She Loves You of our times, and four years later Pink Fong will be producing amazing music that takes the form and pushes into avant garde art territory.

Peacock - 11 Dec 2019 14:41:21 (#14 of 22)

you say that - but perhaps you don't mean it at all, Frankie

Babymetal are one of the strangest things I've seen on stage.

My 15 year old loves Baby Metal. She also loves Abba and the Pet Shop Boys. That is my Baby Metal story.

This is very interesting:

It's basically reverse-engineered from the boardroom, and is unapologetically an arm of South Korean soft power, with its own government department.

I've listened to some BTS - it seems catchy when I listen to it, but five minutes later I remember nothing about it. No matter how many times.

US pop music might seem no better, but there is still some avenue for the genuinely creative to make it.

There is however something gratifying in the fact that, for all the obsessive grooming of physically perfect youngsters, the only Korean song anyone really knows is by a pudgy 35-year-old doing a David Brent dance.
