Celtic Frost - Monotheist

Good shout. A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh is my go-to 'scare my kids' track.

Ha, Celtic Frost...the UK distributors of VHS Manga movies in the early 90s had The Heart Beneath on their trailers:

If You Want Blood You Got It - AC/DC (esp Side 2 which is magnificent)

TommyDGNR8 - 28 Jun 2020 21:15:46 (#8 of 50)

^^^ Technically, I'm on that ^^^

widenation - 28 Jun 2020 21:20:31 (#9 of 50)

Rage Against the Machine seem to count as metal so I'll go with that.

I found the Iron Maiden album artwork(s) fascinating as a kid but felt the music never really met it's anarchic and inventive presentation. I was more a Def Leppard fan - whose first album On Through The Night is often looked over. Also AC/DC.

Sabacious - 28 Jun 2020 21:23:25 (#10 of 50)

Notable for having one of its songs covered by Mariah Carey.

widenation - 28 Jun 2020 21:27:18 (#11 of 50)

That cover was from their second album.

Sabacious - 28 Jun 2020 21:28:39 (#12 of 50)

Same difference.

TommyDGNR8 - 28 Jun 2020 21:37:08 (#13 of 50)

I'd love to think that the Careycreature had a redeeming feature like a love of rock (she murdered at least one Journey classic too), but I suspect she just had artistic directors with better taste than their charge suggested.

ChankNolen - 29 Jun 2020 17:34:32 (#14 of 50)

I lost interest in metal when they moved the snare off 2 and 4 and onto 1 and 3, or sometimes 1, 2, 3 and 4.

surferboogiewhatever - 29 Jun 2020 17:42:35 (#15 of 50)

I refuse to name mine on the grounds that nobody ever seems to agree on what is metal.

kvelertak - 29 Jun 2020 18:30:36 (#16 of 50)

Define it for yourself! :-)

kvelertak - 29 Jun 2020 18:31:50 (#17 of 50)

I am liking the suggestions of Diamond Head and also Def Leppard's On Through the Night.

fogger - 29 Jun 2020 18:52:45 (#18 of 50)

Guitar-based music that isn't a) too bluesy or b) too jangly. Preferably with scary sleeve art.

surferboogiewhatever - 29 Jun 2020 18:53:59 (#19 of 50)

Guitar-based music that isn't a) too bluesy or b) too jangly. Preferably with scary sleeve art .

But half the time someone says "that's not metal, that's hard rock!" How would you define the difference between the two?

fogger - 29 Jun 2020 19:05:02 (#20 of 50)

Everytime I hear something that's 'hard rock' it has blues licks in it.
