I think the main point chank is trying to impress is that he's smarter than everyone else, and the main person he is trying to impress this upon is himself. But I might be mistaken, I suppose.

Possibly. But if so, he's hardly the only one.

#36 isn't an "or" question.

'Oh right, because I thought what you said was: I find this style of thread in the music folder quite interesting in a way, its like a group of colour-blind people trying to describe a Jackson Pollock painting.'

Exactly. My point being, either talk about music using some attempt to use defined musical terms, or post some examples of actual music that might allow people to understand what concept you are groping towards.

But this is why I generally stay out of the music folder.

Has he gone?

I'm just impressed that he has a vocabulary that excludes the words 'slow bit in the middle'.

I think it was an allusion to phrases like whooooo, bippidy-bop, and plinky-plonk. Which implies he has a poor command of register.

About 5 minutes into Roundabout by Yes where they slow down to revisit the acoustic intro with fluttering keyboards and gentle vocals, before the big organ chord and the scratchy riff comes back in.

The second half of the guitar solo in Led Zep's In The Evening - about 30 seconds with chorus/flange guitar in the background, before a big "Oooooh" and then the main riff again.

The other ones that spring to mind if nobody's mentioned them - Suspicious Minds, and Purple's Strange Kind Of Woman.

aha - the quiet "in and around the lake" bit.

SLF’s Barbed Wire Love has an odd slow crooning middle bit.
