Guess I missed The Killers. Mr Brightside doesn't register with me at all.

DesEsseintes - 31 May 2021 15:52:26 (#2 of 191)

Of all time ? Going Underground, I guess

TRaney - 31 May 2021 15:56:35 (#3 of 191)

Seven nation army would have to be up there

popstar7 - 31 May 2021 16:03:24 (#4 of 191)

I think I’ve heard Heroes way too much. If it’s not already dead for you, this should do the trick -

popstar7 - 31 May 2021 16:04:31 (#5 of 191)

And sodding Hallelujah by Laughing Len.

DesEsseintes - 31 May 2021 16:05:57 (#6 of 191)

Only place I hear Seven Nation Army is the football

Must be the national anthem of the British working class

TRaney - 31 May 2021 16:19:20 (#7 of 191)

Wonderwall obviously

popstar7 - 31 May 2021 16:20:52 (#8 of 191)

And Common People. Enough with that.

solomongursky - 31 May 2021 16:21:47 (#9 of 191)

35 years ago I worked in a pub where the jukebox played Take A Look At Me Now at top volume twice an hour. Got PTSD.

TRaney - 31 May 2021 16:24:48 (#10 of 191)

Once upon a time the Lightning Seeds would have been up there but when was the last time you heard them?

All things must pass.

DesEsseintes - 31 May 2021 16:27:04 (#11 of 191)

Should I Stay or Should I Go ? was played to death at one point when it was in a TV ad

FleurDuMal - 31 May 2021 17:49:15 (#12 of 191)

Brighton Rock by Queen.

Incidentally, the original link overlooks the fact, as I believe it to be, that the number of hits on places like YouTube isn't of the number times the vid has been played, but the number of times it has been clicked on, irrespective of how much of the vid has been viewed.

bossab2 - 31 May 2021 21:24:10 (#14 of 191)

I dont even recognise Mr Brightside...

Clearly not on the Smooth Radio Playlist.

CarlosFandango - 31 May 2021 22:04:45 (#15 of 191)

I overplay something for a while, then move on. Couldn't begin to pick an all-time overplayed track.

A funny one recently was cover versions of Tom Waits' Foreign Affair which has some very cool interpretations. Manhattan Transfer's being among the best.

Delighted_User - 31 May 2021 22:19:36 (#16 of 191)

Tight finish between 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and 'Imagine'.

Delighted_User - 31 May 2021 22:20:59 (#17 of 191)

Having now clicked the link, I see that one of them is mentioned.

limegreen - 31 May 2021 22:29:53 (#18 of 191)

Most of those in the article do not ruin my day. That bloody Mariah Christmas one does.

Delighted_User - 31 May 2021 22:35:09 (#19 of 191)

I actually like 'Mr Brightside', because of the cleverness of the anticipated rhyme that isn't. Obviously I'd get sick of it if I heard it regularly several times a day, but then anything would have that effect.

CarlosFandango - 31 May 2021 22:46:30 (#20 of 191)

There was a Green Day anthem that was on non-fucking-stop a decade or so ago. And now it's gone, so all is well.
