I'll start with Dylan's guitar on Shelter from the storm, BoTT.

Agaliarept - 21 Sep 2021 15:20:49 (#2 of 80)

Paul’s vocal on The Fool on the Hill.

Moschops - 21 Sep 2021 15:33:13 (#3 of 80)

Phil Oakley's vocal on Electric Dreams

frantastic - 21 Sep 2021 14:35:11 (#4 of 80)

All of the original release of Miles’ Kind of Blue is out of tune since it was recorded at slightly the wrong speed.

phantlers - 21 Sep 2021 14:41:31 (#5 of 80)

The ships' hooters at the beginning of Sea Cruise.

machiavelli - 21 Sep 2021 15:50:15 (#6 of 80)

The sax on Baggy Trousers

Atticus - 21 Sep 2021 15:50:45 (#7 of 80)

My rendition of Abba's SOS at some bar.

My pregnant friend said I'd almost made her baby come early.

I thought that was going to jobim.

angelico - 21 Sep 2021 16:16:28 (#10 of 80)

Slightly, though, now my memory has kicked in.

Anything by Sophie Ellis Bextor

I think I’d call that “out of key” because the relative tunings are still accurate.

Auto tune has destroyed modern pop.

Snarlygog - 21 Sep 2021 18:07:56 (#14 of 80)

Wild Thing by Hendrix at Monterrey. You can see him do a quick strum to see the state of his guitar after the previous song. He realised its way out of tune, so he grips a squid chord and just strums it to perfection.

ChankNolen - 23 Sep 2021 12:29:02 (#15 of 80)

The synthesiser on Maceo & the Macks' Cross the Track (We Better Go Back).

One of the oddities of the early 2000s deep funk scene was musicians detuning a quarter tone to replicate this accidental effect. See also attempts to copy James Brown's unique bunch of bananas keyboard technique.

levelgaze - 23 Sep 2021 12:36:44 (#16 of 80)

Famously, the horns on When a Man Loves a Woman. They re-recorded them for being wrong, then mistakenly released the original again.

Agaliarept - 23 Sep 2021 12:41:49 (#17 of 80)

A few years back there was a Youtube trend for Shreds where a song was recorded out of tune for a joke. They're clearly fakes but I always thought they were funny.

This was the best one imo

Here also is not a fake one. Some sound guy released the recording of Courtney Love's isolated guitar and mic at a gig.

I just remembered this: Puddle of Mudd absolutely slaughtering Nirvana.

Our piano is a semitone flat and can't be safely brought up because it was made before concert pitch was raised. Basically, we have a piano in B.

Eligelis - 23 Sep 2021 13:10:50 (#20 of 80)

The company song of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation (complaints division)
