Rock is a very broad church from soft to hard and everything mentioned so far, except for Hatters being silly, is Rock.
I respect Eli hugely, but I think he is wrong here. There is good stuff in the period he has chosen, and good stuff outside it. Let us listen to what we like and share it and enjoy it, worrying not about the date, and ignoring those who have never emotionally left sixth form and whose only joy in life is mocking the tastes of others. Just hang loose. Man.
