Psychology behind the thief stealing only one of each pair of earrings

A friend brought his friend to my home. That man asked to use my bathroom. Once gone, I found his friend, the thief, had stolen one earring of every pair I owned that had been lying out in my bathroom. Some were very expensive with many gemstones.

I could maybe understand this had I known this person or if he was avenging me for something I had done, but I was nice to him and he was quite pleasant while we were socializing. He had no reason not to like me.

WHAT WOULD POSSESS THIS THIEF TO RUIN ALL MY EARRINGS BY STEALING ONLY ONE OF EACH?

Years later, he somehow found my # & phoned two seperate times apologizing profusely for doing so. I never asked him why, but I've been puzzled about this for about 10 years.

Perhaps his partner only had one ear.

ANOTHER MYSTERY SOLVED ON THE INTERNET.

Maybe he was trying to train his dog to fetch the other of a pair when shown an earring.

Maybe he was just a klepto.

I had a friend I'd known for years and socialised with every weekend. When I moved out of the town, he came to visit me and slept on my lounge floor.

For some reason he stole the £7 odd change i'd left on the table from our night out.

I saw him a few months later and he couldn't explain why he had done it. I made him pay me back though.

Fetishist, I'd say.

There's a Poirot called Hickory Dickory Dock where someone only nicks one shoe because they're klepto.

Yes, some unipeds are light-fingered.

First things first. How many ears did they have?

Sabacious - 08 Jan 2019 09:07:18 (#8 of 13)

Three obviously, left ear, right ear and final front ear.

Interesting. So your thief is William Shatner. I think he rents a flat above a shop, cut his hair and got a job, if that helps?

Sabacious - 08 Jan 2019 09:38:01 (#10 of 13)

Nearly.

Sabacious - 08 Jan 2019 09:38:53 (#11 of 13)

It was certainly not James, he only has two ears; James without front ears.

It might be Stuart Hall, he was famously Sans Frontieres.

Although he’s probably still in prison for it.

Now I understand. He was stealing one earring in Vincent Van Gogh's memory. I should have known. Thank you, guys.
