I have know this for a few years now but there is still investigative journalism in the UK.

solomongursky - 18 May 2019 09:21:36 (#2 of 104)

According to the author of The Looming Tower Osama bin Laden, at a wedding before the 9/11 attacks, quoted the line, repeating it three times: "Wherever you are, death will find you, even if you are in lofty towers".

It made me wonder how many weddings he was invited to.

Moschops - 18 May 2019 09:21:46 (#3 of 104)

Well this isn't at all confusing

That thread is in the Football folder. I have been attacked before (by the usual suspects?) for posting in the incorrect folder.

This is a more general folder.

cozzer - 18 May 2019 09:32:13 (#5 of 104)

I didn't think you could give a thread the same title as another one. Is it just the full stop in the original that's differentiating them? That's useful to know.

Tripos - 18 May 2019 09:32:49 (#6 of 104)

Yes, just the full stop.

cozzer - 18 May 2019 09:41:42 (#7 of 104)

Also, did you really start this thread just to post #1?

Rendered - 18 May 2019 09:43:33 (#8 of 104)

Apparently some people not only watch RT but actually believe what they see and hear.

Tadagee - 18 May 2019 09:44:56 (#9 of 104)

Great thread. Thanks for starting it.

Arjuna - 18 May 2019 09:45:06 (#10 of 104)

Was it small talk over canapes at the reception?

RosyLovelady - 18 May 2019 10:03:07 (#11 of 104)

I haven't seen anything on RT for many years, but I still hear a lot about it from people who think no one should watch it--except them, presumably.

Tadagee - 18 May 2019 10:38:29 (#12 of 104)

Do you read the Daily Mail Rosy?

RosyLovelady - 18 May 2019 10:42:02 (#13 of 104)

No but I hear about that from other people too. Why?

Tadagee - 18 May 2019 10:43:11 (#14 of 104)

Do you have any opinion of it as a reliable news source?

indlovubill - 18 May 2019 10:51:32 (#15 of 104)

It's the voice of the people telling the people what they want to hear,

‘Losing my mother was like no other pain’: Prince William speaks with searing honesty about Princess Diana’s death and how years after it affected his work as an air ambulance pilot by leaving him ‘negative and depressed’

How could you not be moved to tears you heartless bastards?

Verdigris - 18 May 2019 10:54:29 (#16 of 104)

Whatevs.

solomongursky - 18 May 2019 10:56:01 (#17 of 104)

That was to Peter Crouch, weirdly.

Verdigris - 18 May 2019 10:56:50 (#18 of 104)

I've just found out that you can't pay your council tax with a card that gives you cashback/Amazon points/etc. Cunts.

OK they are branded Daf but I can't recall seeing a Daf truck for decades. Must pay more attention.

Come to think of it, I haven't either. They always give me an earworm: https://youtu.be/XfNLORw7r_M
