Did you ever strike a happy medium?

Tenesmus - 05 Jul 2019 15:01:16 (#2 of 95)

I'm impressed by their ability to extract money from people.

Jacob_Richter - 05 Jul 2019 15:06:42 (#3 of 95)

I knew you were going to say that.

FrankieTeardrop - 05 Jul 2019 15:07:15 (#4 of 95)

I think they are dangerous people.

Not in that sense, no.

FrankieTeardrop - 05 Jul 2019 15:10:49 (#7 of 95)

The James Randi documentary explains why better than I could.

Jacob_Richter - 05 Jul 2019 15:12:01 (#8 of 95)

Sounds like a character from a Carry On film.

FrankieTeardrop - 05 Jul 2019 15:12:18 (#9 of 95)

Hyuk hyuk hyuk

HerrWalrus - 05 Jul 2019 15:12:45 (#10 of 95)

Carry On Nostradaming?

FrankieTeardrop - 05 Jul 2019 15:13:34 (#11 of 95)

There must be a fortune teller character in at least one Carry On film.

I have some sympathy for tarot (according to my understanding of it). It's more like a counselling thing, isn't it, where the subject interprets the cards themselves, being led by the reader. 'What in my life is undergoing change?'. I can see some value in that.

FrankieTeardrop - 05 Jul 2019 15:15:44 (#13 of 95)

The cards are rather redundant, though. Also, therapists are trained and qualified.

tasselhoff - 05 Jul 2019 15:21:06 (#14 of 95)

It may be more about the empathy, which is pretty difficult (but not impossible) to train.

widenation - 05 Jul 2019 15:21:11 (#15 of 95)

I was impressed with Jane Seymour in Live and Let Die as a nipper.

TRaney - 05 Jul 2019 15:24:06 (#16 of 95)

I have some sympathy for tarot

Like the I Ching it's open to interpretation so how you choose to interpret reveals and clarifies your desires

The cards are rather redundant, though.

No, they're just an intermediary. I have a deep distrust of psychics, charlatans or simply deluded, the former mostly.

AlanII - 05 Jul 2019 15:24:51 (#18 of 95)

Like the I Ching is open to interpretation so how you choose to interpret reveals and clarifies your desires

Yes, this.

HerrWalrus - 05 Jul 2019 15:27:40 (#19 of 95)

Suddenly cast down will be those at ease

By the three brothers, the world put in trouble

Marine city will be seized by enemies

Famine, fire, blood, plague and all evils doubled.

You see, old Nostie correctly predicted Portsmouth's fate.

SinnerBoy - 05 Jul 2019 19:14:40 (#20 of 95)

Anyone here been impressed by a medium or fortune-teller?

No.

My ex talked me into going to a gypsy palm reader, when I was 17. She gave me my money back.
