Like, that strongman dictator in Belarus is still in charge. There was coverage of protests, then nada.

TRaney - 23 Feb 2021 10:14:39 (#2 of 25)

And those mysterious slabs. Was there ever an explanation?

Shadrack22 - 23 Feb 2021 10:18:51 (#3 of 25)

Unsolved:

Plague of locusts in East Africa. It’s still happening, but I suppose people’s minds were distracted by the other plague.

DesEsseintes - 23 Feb 2021 11:23:37 (#5 of 25)

The hunt for the bear killer, and pro-bear demonstrations, in Ariège.

Some years ago, there was a TV programme about a bloke who had created an anti-gravity gyroscopic propulsion system, which he claimed could revolutionise aircraft engines.

I've never heard anything since then.

hailesaladdie - 23 Feb 2021 11:27:39 (#7 of 25)

Didn't that just end up being Segways?

Eric Laithwaite?

FleurDuMal - 23 Feb 2021 11:32:26 (#9 of 25)

I can't remember the name - I just found the idea impressive.

FleurDuMal - 23 Feb 2021 11:32:59 (#10 of 25)

I don't think so - Segways can't fly. As their inventor found, to his cost.

hailesaladdie - 23 Feb 2021 11:33:41 (#11 of 25)

Whatever happened to the sausage roll couple from some Teesside Morrisons?

upgoerfive - 23 Feb 2021 11:34:15 (#12 of 25)

See also the chap with the box that he claimed could project a "Man-made Ley Line". He talked up a global network of such things, used to navigate ships and aeroplanes.

I vaguely remember that the workings of the mysterious box turned out to be a battery and a car headlamp bulb.

HerrWalrus - 23 Feb 2021 11:34:30 (#13 of 25)

What happened to the Edstone?

hailesaladdie - 23 Feb 2021 11:34:47 (#14 of 25)

Or, more seriously, that drug trial gone wrong at Northwick Park hospital. Was all over the news (and IIRC damaged quite a lot of other trials' participation), but I don't remember learning what happened to the people involved.

browserbutton - 23 Feb 2021 11:35:28 (#15 of 25)

What happened to tennis-ball-bonced svengali Dominic Cummings?

hailesaladdie - 23 Feb 2021 11:37:22 (#16 of 25)

Doing dodgy big data stuff without the high profile, at a guess.

limegreen - 23 Feb 2021 11:38:56 (#17 of 25)

#14 There are a few articles out there. I vaguely knew the girlfriend of one of the men affected and they got married and had kids, but I don't know much more, other than he still has long terms effects.

Wikipedia:

In January 2016 two party officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Bloomberg News that the stone had been destroyed in the weeks following 7 May 2015, putting an end to eight months of speculation about its whereabouts.

Tomnoddy - 23 Feb 2021 12:12:45 (#19 of 25)

I can't help picturing Milliband as a hapless Wile E. Coyote at the foot of a cliff, looking up and realising, too late, what that headstone is going to do.

Allegra Stratton - WTF happened to her, and how much is she fucking paid?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegra_Stratton

Edit: she does appear to be active - if you are a reporter.
