Conservative official suspended over racist tweet aimed at Diane Abbott

Alan Pearmain, the deputy chairman of the South Ribble Conservative Association and a parish councillor, shared a tweet in December that portrayed Abbott, the shadow home secretary, as an ape wearing lipstick who should be in a zoo. </snip>

....The letter to police was focused on one email this week that described the Hackney MP as a “pathetic useless fat black piece of … pondslime” who ought to be hanged.

Jeremy Corbyn liked a mural on instagram once, so its swings and roundabouts.

“I’m almost 70, I’ve been asked to apologise on many, many occasions. Sometimes it warrants apologising, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes you have to stand up for your principles.

“Can you tell me what’s wrong with the tweet? I thought it was her size and her appearance, nothing to do with colour.”

HouseOfLametta - 17 Jan 2019 22:47:04 (#4 of 17)

I’m not 70, but I’m not sure I’ve ever been asked to apologise for anything.

"The parish councillor said he had lived in a number of foreign countries and that he has a black relative who was in the US army"

Oh right, so that's ok then.

He sounds utterly repulsive.

Macpaddy - 12 Feb 2019 23:40:30 (#8 of 17)

He's a Tory, of course he's repulsive.

I like these time travelling threads.

Delighted_User - 13 Feb 2019 06:37:03 (#10 of 17)

So many questions. What happened in the end? Why did this thread attract virtually no attention when it first appeared? What was the now-deleted first comment, presumably but not provably dating from roughly the time of the event? Why is there a South Ribble but not a North Ribble, assuming it really exists and is not just an in-joke? What became of JudgeMentalist?

TrouserFreak - 13 Feb 2019 06:40:17 (#11 of 17)

I heard she killed a Tory. Just to watch him die.

The Ribble is a splendid Lancashire river. It had a bus company named after it long ago.

A part of the country where immigrants are much feared possibly because there are very few of them. Rabid Brexiteer Nigel Evans is the MP for Ribble Valley.

RosyLovelady - 20 Oct 2019 18:54:08 (#16 of 17)

Are you blaming the racism on the water?

indlovubill - 20 Oct 2019 18:59:22 (#17 of 17)

That could be the case, Rosy the source of the river is actually in Yorkshire.
