So are you boycotting the Guardian?

Apparently they think the Guardian is 'neoconservative'and its obsession with identity politics is undermining the class struggle.

Interesting.

I'd always thought that the left consciously developed identity politics as a strategy in the 60s and 70s when it became clear that socialist economics didn't work. Although to be fair I was never hundred percent convinced about that

I stopped buying it as I didn't want to be funding right-wing hatemonger troll Julie Birchill.

That was a long time ago.

I sometimes get a free copy in Waitrose.

Why the unnecessary 'so'?

SheikYerbouti - 02 Oct 2018 18:59:20 (#7 of 63)

The poor old thread starter forgot to include his link!

Dubris - 02 Oct 2018 18:59:35 (#8 of 63)

What am I going to buy instead - the Mail?

Shadrack22 - 02 Oct 2018 19:00:05 (#9 of 63)

The Church Times.

You could read the i, or whatever its called.

AshburtonAbove - 02 Oct 2018 19:01:44 (#11 of 63)

The I is a very shouty paper. A left wing Daily Express.

Dubris - 02 Oct 2018 19:02:22 (#12 of 63)

I've tried to read the i, on occasions when the newsagent has run out of The Graun. The articles are all so short and lacking in content, you never get a good run-up on them. It hardly feels like reading at all.

RosyLovelady - 02 Oct 2018 19:03:01 (#13 of 63)

Left of the Express without being of the left, I reckon.

I might try the i, for that very reason. I hate the Guardiab’s style of taking 5 unecesary paragraphs to actually get to the point. Yes yes mr journalist, your narrative prose is wonderful. But, what actually happened to the dog wearing a bowler hat?

invicta - 02 Oct 2018 19:08:33 (#15 of 63)

I only mention it because my mum reads it. Leaves her feeling informed without making her depressed.

Rendered - 02 Oct 2018 19:08:55 (#16 of 63)

Your mum!

Dubris - 02 Oct 2018 19:11:22 (#17 of 63)

Whereas the i would tell you that there was a dog and something happened, but not what. But look - it's fitted twenty other similarly uninformative stories onto the same page and a round-up of the world press that tells you nothing other than that some newspapers exist somewhere.

It is possible that Invicta's mother and I want slightly different things from our newspaper.

Sounds ideal for opaz_

SheikYerbouti - 27 Nov 2018 10:44:23 (#19 of 63)

Old opaz is ON FIRE today. Lefties and trendy intellectuals quake in their boots.

What's the Pervster up to now?
