Clearly Yanny.

FrankieTeardrop - 16 May 2018 14:48:30 (#2 of 103)

Laurel. I can't hear an "N" consonant at all.

Dayraven - 16 May 2018 14:48:36 (#3 of 103)

White and gold.

widenation - 16 May 2018 14:49:29 (#4 of 103)

Yanis Varoufakis

tasselhoff - 16 May 2018 14:50:57 (#5 of 103)

I only heard Yanny the first time. I tried again an hour later and could only hear Laurel. I reckon they're just randomly playing one of two tracks.

mingmong - 16 May 2018 14:53:59 (#6 of 103)

I have tried turning up the bass (the Laurel sound is supposedly buried in its lower frequencies). Still Yanny though.

RosyLovelady - 16 May 2018 14:54:37 (#7 of 103)

I thought it was a weird transatlantic pronunciation of "WORLD" at first. Then the woman said you had to pick either laurel or yammy and laurel was the closest.

RudyVoeller - 16 May 2018 15:08:27 (#8 of 103)

Yoni

RosyLovelady - 16 May 2018 15:11:15 (#9 of 103)

Filth.

RosyLovelady - 16 May 2018 15:13:21 (#10 of 103)

This recording (unlike the BBC's earlier today) goes on to say Larry and Gerry before returning to Laurel.

helenskywalker - 16 May 2018 15:14:36 (#11 of 103)

I can hear both.

waxwing - 16 May 2018 15:15:16 (#12 of 103)

Mainly Laurel but with a little gremlin whispering Yanny at the same time.

Tenesmus - 16 May 2018 15:28:00 (#13 of 103)

You're all wrong.

Kill them all. Kill them now. Kill.

Clearly.

mingmong - 16 May 2018 18:05:19 (#14 of 103)

Now hearing Laurel

blaithin - 16 May 2018 18:17:51 (#15 of 103)

100% Yanny. Not even a hint of another word, no matter how hard I try to hear it.

turbodante - 16 May 2018 18:29:10 (#16 of 103)

Yearny

Delighted_User - 16 May 2018 18:35:10 (#17 of 103)

Something like "yeary". I've tried in vain to hear an L.

NoSleep - 16 May 2018 18:42:28 (#18 of 103)

It isn't a robot, btw. Just an audio sample (of a bloke) from an online dictionary for the word that's being spoken just to clear up which it is:

https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/laurel

I've linked this on another forum and people who had been hearing "Yanny" all day, before hearing the original, on that link, clearly as "Laurel" (which it actually is) and then they can only hear "Laurel" thereafter.

bossab2 - 16 May 2018 18:42:57 (#19 of 103)

It's a quick test to spot Brexiteers:

Leavers hear "Laurel" ( and also vote Tory )

NoSleep - 16 May 2018 18:44:29 (#20 of 103)

Leavers hear "Laurel" ( and also vote Tory )

Libellous.
