What have you predicted correctly in past times?

Early 90s, and Apple were in trouble. I told people I thought they'd be alright (they were, as Steve Jobs managed to wrangle a loan from Bill Gates). However likew most folk I didn't realise how big they were to become with inventions like the iPod, iPad and the iPhone.

Maybe I should have bought some of their shares...

The survival of Corbzy as Labour leader when even Tangent thought he was doomed

Red Marauder winning the 2001 Grand National

The fall from grace of Frank Bough

iPods were pretty shit when you think about it.

That Will Young would beat Gareth Gates in the X-factor.

Beaky1 - 30 Nov 2018 18:52:34 (#4 of 73)

I was considering getting one.

spartak - 30 Nov 2018 18:53:40 (#5 of 73)

What was wrong with iPods?

Beaky1 - 30 Nov 2018 18:54:37 (#6 of 73)

I'll just have to hum to myself now.

Tadagee - 30 Nov 2018 18:55:46 (#7 of 73)

David Cameron as Prime Minister around 2004

My mate bought a first gen ipod and brought it to the pub. There were obvious issues - you couldn't listen to music while walking for example, but it was fucking amazing. Would've been more so had he not chosen to fill it with Pete Ubu and a shit-load of prog rock.

widenation - 30 Nov 2018 18:55:59 (#9 of 73)

I got an iPod 4 free through work and used it a little over a couple of years. They were prone to crashing, battery going kaput etc.

spartak - 30 Nov 2018 18:58:11 (#10 of 73)

Ah. I bought one in about 2010. Loved it.

Faugheen at 14/1

Mecca's Angel at 8/1

Kalashnikov at 12/1

If you're confident in your predictions, always back it up with your hard earned.

moto748 - 30 Nov 2018 19:43:23 (#12 of 73)

Do you have a 'next Frank Bough' in mind, Shadders?

PostmodernToss - 30 Nov 2018 19:51:23 (#13 of 73)

That the economy would bounce back after the 2008 crash. Plenty on here thought that was a ridiculous suggestion.

HouseOfLametta - 30 Nov 2018 19:55:54 (#14 of 73)

Why can’t you listen to an iPod when walking?

phantlers - 30 Nov 2018 19:57:25 (#15 of 73)

Pete Ubu

I knew his dad.

Bonusy - 30 Nov 2018 20:28:42 (#16 of 73)

What have you predicted correctly in past times?

Amazon would become quiet successful, this whole online book shop thing is amazing! But I was too poor and clueless to go about actually buying any shares

mingmong - 30 Nov 2018 20:33:08 (#17 of 73)

#13 questionable to what extent it has bounced back. Survived maybe, come off the the drip, but hardly booming at pre 2008 levels. The US has recovered rather better for not having adopted RW ideological austerity politics

col2001 - 30 Nov 2018 20:35:07 (#18 of 73)

It's not even debatable, that one. The anemic recovery.

PostmodernToss - 30 Nov 2018 20:36:55 (#19 of 73)

hardly booming at pre 2008 levels

Perhaps, but then this has been a very long boom. I'll trade a less stratospheric boom for one which lasts longer.

JerkinMcGherkin - 30 Nov 2018 20:39:25 (#20 of 73)

The 2015 general election result (on here).

In betting terms I won money on that, the referendum result and Trump winning the election.
