...he's almost invariably polite...

… a life-long Labour voter writes.

With tories you have to be thankful for any redeeming quality you find - however insignificant.

Same with Virginia Bottomley - she was very pretty.

Virginia Bottomley - anagram - an evil tory bigot.

I've also read that Gove is polite. Is there any reason why he wouldn't be polite, and what standard of politeness is assumed?

Given that he knifed BoJo in the back, I read, what is his politeness really all about?

And anybody who knifes BoJo anywhere can't be all bad.

I think Gove is supposed to have knifed BoJo in the front. If it's true, it might be evidence of politeness, by parliamentary standards.

I'm just guessing here.

His politeness is phoney -- it just seems like he's trying to take the piss.

It may be inherent in the political life for sincerity to be hard to spot or find. (Edit). Or be expressed.

RosyLovelady - 11 Jun 2019 13:07:17 (#8 of 11)

You're right there, bb. That oleaginous manner of speech when he's having to deal with little people and newshounds ...

DonkeyOT - 11 Jun 2019 13:15:09 (#9 of 11)

Erratum.

Same with Virginia Bottomley - she was very pretty.

Virginia Bottomley - anagram - I'm an evil tory bigot.

I omitted "I'm" - wasn't a proper anagram without it.

Is pleased by absence of pedantry, (= politeness).

Virginia's husband Peter was also a tory Minister, according to the papers his nickname in the House was "Bumley". I bet it bloody wasn't, "Arsely" - more like.
