I'm not very clever but surely if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend they need to know what your problems are?

Is it not obvious?

How are you getting on, Leftie?

Brunothecat - 10 Sep 2019 12:17:53 (#2 of 28)

My wife was attracted to me by my problem - hard drinking. She foresaw a lifetime of joining in with gusto, and thus we enjoyed 30 happy years together. Its a funny old world.

WibbleAgain - 10 Sep 2019 12:19:17 (#3 of 28)

Did someone decline to hear your problems, Leftie?

Leftie - 10 Sep 2019 12:26:50 (#4 of 28)

Not bad #1. Applied to the RNIB! I was offered some pub work but didn't want to do it.

Nothing wrong with hard drinking, Bruno if you've got it under control.

Leftie - 10 Sep 2019 12:26:57 (#5 of 28)

No Wibble.

WibbleAgain - 10 Sep 2019 12:29:29 (#6 of 28)

In that case did someone decline to talk about their problem?

thisonehasalittlehat - 10 Sep 2019 12:31:39 (#7 of 28)

I think you do your damndest to keep all your problems hidden from your loved ones, no?

Leftie - 10 Sep 2019 12:36:16 (#8 of 28)

Depends what they are I suppose. I wouldn't tell them much now about it.

thisonehasalittlehat - 11 Sep 2019 06:31:25 (#9 of 28)

I didn't mean you in particular.

Turtle - 11 Sep 2019 06:55:27 (#10 of 28)

Depends what they are I suppose.

The trick is to tell your loved ones just enough about your problems to give them the feeling that you need them, but are not about to become more of a burden than they can bear.

You're making that up. And we don't care anyway.

It's better if your problems (thanks for not calling them "issues") can be something you used to have, but which nowadays scarcely trouble you.

FleurDuMal - 11 Sep 2019 09:30:43 (#15 of 28)

(thanks for not calling them "issues")

Seconded.

Leftie - 11 Sep 2019 10:57:58 (#16 of 28)

#11 I would want to know about it.

RosyLovelady - 11 Sep 2019 11:26:12 (#17 of 28)

With the best will in the world, other people's problems can become boring after a while, and sometimes oneself is other people. There should be much more to a relationship than the celebration of old problems.

PS I admit I'm not a great example of this, as MrRosy would attest if he weren't so kind-hearted.

Leftie - 11 Sep 2019 11:26:55 (#18 of 28)

Well yes but I don't see the harm telling them some of the main stuff.

Oh poor Aga. "My wife dosn't understand me".
