Suggestions for a points-based system of snooping on journalists' and public figures' kitchens and home offices.

A basic 5 points for noticing a bare nail on the wall behind them from which an unsuitable picture has been removed.

Would you trust a government scientist who favoured Vettriano's Singing Butler? There was one on the news the other day and it seriously affected my trust in his judgement; should have hidden it.

I sit watching these talking heads with my own head on the side reading the titles on the spines behind them. The professors mostly seem to have quite messy shelves which I find reassuring.

Still don't get the Vettriano hate.

Is it anything more than just pure snobbishness?

I just looked up the Vettriano image, not knowing what it was - but then I saw it and I did know it. It's not so bad.

My work set up means I am facing my bookshelves, so people get a view of my rather seventies glazed living room door instead.

Fake kitchen equipment news: When the Archbishop of Canterbury held Easter service from his kitchen, people immediately 'took to social media' to witter on about the toaster in the background. In fact, it was one of those retro Roberts radios.

Vettriano is dull but inoffensive. Thomas Kinkade, on the other hand...

Vettriano is dull but inoffensive

Apart from the more offensive ones.

CarlosFandango - 23 Jun 2020 17:46:37 (#9 of 12)

And the not so dull ones.

cozzer - 23 Jun 2020 17:53:26 (#10 of 12)

They're all dull.

AdonisBlue - 23 Jun 2020 17:55:52 (#11 of 12)

I just googled Vettriano and got loads of ladies in black suspenders. Maybe there's more than one?

esmeralda - 23 Jun 2020 18:10:26 (#12 of 12)

No, that's him.

Tongue in cheek on that one; yes, it is art snobbishness which I don't really share.

Completely zoned out a sensible analysis of post-Covid economy the other day wondering why I couldn't swipe up to find out where he bought his lovely green kitchen tiles.

My son is embarrassed about the mess in his father's office where he works and asked if he can use my work space for his next presentation. Yes, of course. Oh good, thank you ... he said and then, could I please tidy up the bookshelf behind me?
