What Makes a Poster Minor or Major?

I have been reading an essay by T.S. Eliot as you might guess on what makes a minor poet different from a major poet, and does the question even make sense.

I do not know. Though I often think I know. But when I attempt to explain it I realize I should keep quiet and let others draw the fire of men in gowns.

Recordable sales were supposed to help, but they were traditionally tied to general industry assumptions about the superiority of the capitalist mindset, and/or the repudiation thereof.

New world. New connections.

"Major" and "Minor" were snapshots of a tree now wilted, with "decorations" from a former day. These trees are usually burned after being abandoned on the highway.

Major often followed by the word cunt.

Poetry should "Boldly go where no one has gone before".

That doesn't just mean being "weird", it means being the voice of experience.

Eliot offers continuous as a marker for Great. Which at first I thought "ah ha". But the men in gowns may have other ideas. Oxbridge ideas. Lapsed emptying the ashtrays and clearing up.

Beaky's combination floor waxer and pod.

Whether or not their third's flat.

Let other clowns play the stupid "Major or minor" game.

Who cares after you're dead?

Write for yourself. Right now, and enjoy it.

You're the only one keeping score.

A diminished major ninth says it like it is.

Size mainly

A1 - major

A6 - minor

How strange the change.

So this thread isn't about posters it's about poets?

Below minor poets do you get poets - or indeed posters - minimus?

I remember one of my lecturers taking issue with Eliot's classification of Marvell as a minor poet.

Wilfred Owen was a Miners poet.

wickeltisch - 02 Oct 2020 13:09:44 (#18 of 55)

Or was he a Miners' poet?

I thought this would be a thread about posters.

A minor poster is small, perhaps 20 by 30 cm and easy to frame.

A major poster perhaps 100 x 80 cm and needing a large frame.

JohnIlly - 02 Oct 2020 13:56:15 (#20 of 55)

I am a poster with a large frame.
