Christmas lights - first sighting.

Saw two houses today with christmas decorations and lights in the window!

I recently found myself driving excitedly towards what I thought was the Christmas Bus. Turned out to be a heavily-illuminated recovery truck towing a car away.

the Christmas Bus

The what now?

LemonGrass - 28 Oct 2020 21:06:16 (#3 of 97)

There's Christmas lights put out on the other side of the street by the council. They haven't been turned on yet.

A colleague has some local celebrity status thanks to his Christmas house and garden tableaux. I asked him a couple of weeks ago whether he had started checking his bulbs and oh yes, he has.

Under normal circumstances, the switch-on events generally start at the beginning of November, so #3& #39;s not really a surprise, but I haven& #39;t heard any plans for events this year.

Another covid blow to the C-list celeb job market.

Tell us more of the christmas bus please!

As well as christmas lights spotting, I also got trick or treated on my way home from work (similar to an attempted mugging by small children) and narrowly dodged a firework coming my way from the park.

Its a busy time for festivities and tat!

Stellata - 28 Oct 2020 21:20:32 (#7 of 97)

Oh, do other places not have a Christmas Bus?

nemo75 - 28 Oct 2020 21:21:48 (#8 of 97)

Oh pink. I’m so sorry. I thought this would be a bossab thread.

Pinkgum - 28 Oct 2020 21:23:18 (#9 of 97)

Thats it nemo, mental ignore for you!

Pinkgum - 28 Oct 2020 21:24:09 (#10 of 97)

Christmas bus looks ace stellata. I have never seen such a thing.

nemo75 - 28 Oct 2020 21:25:33 (#11 of 97)

<looks contrite>

Stellata - 28 Oct 2020 21:27:00 (#12 of 97)

AFAIK there’s only one in the city, so it’s very exciting if you spot it.

Pinkgum - 28 Oct 2020 21:32:52 (#13 of 97)

I bet, like all your Christmases come at once!

HerrWalrus - 28 Oct 2020 21:34:15 (#14 of 97)

Why has a Christmas bus got a big Union Jack on it?

SinnerBoy - 28 Oct 2020 21:37:14 (#15 of 97)

Father Christmas on tins of Coke, in Morrison's. A colleague drinks a case a week!

Stellata - 28 Oct 2020 21:40:32 (#16 of 97)

The last photo is a christmasified sight-seeing bus which has the union flag. Most years it’s a normal bus they decorate.

TommyDGNR8 - 28 Oct 2020 22:16:06 (#17 of 97)

I want a Christmas Bus!!

Don;t think there's much call for open-tops in Huddersfield, though. We had to borrow one from Halifax when Town got promoted.

Tenesmus - 28 Oct 2020 22:28:14 (#18 of 97)

The village lights started going up on Sunday. And, seeing a village FB post announcing a Christmas lights competition, Mrs Tenesmus is eyeing up All Of The Lights.

Only Halloween decs up here. One witch and a dementor seen so far.

ReverendBlueJeans - 30 Oct 2020 14:21:31 (#20 of 97)

I reported on the official Last Mince Pie in the Larder thread in N&Q (a thread with greater age, longevity and bottom than this one, might I suggest) some Nutcracker deccies in a front window last Saturday. These are popular in Trumpland at the Lord's Nativity, I gather.

The Glasgow Live Facebook page has reported Christmas trees visible in some wndows in the city already.
