Secret Gammon

Laurence Fox, Fred Dibnah, Neil Oliver....

Thread to speculate on which public personality will be next to reveal themselves as an oppressed voice seeking a breath of fresh air.

Some of these people I like.

There are bonus points for people you like. The crushing disappointment.

Can’t find any Brexit quotes, but he sounds a bit gammony here Tag:

MILLIONAIRE rocker Noddy Holder, who along with his bandmates in Slade earns almost £1m-a-year in royalties from his song Merry Xmas Everybody, has blasted inheritance tax laws.

He said: "Like everybody else, I pay tax on what I earn. The bit left over, I save and pay tax on the interest. So twice already I've been taxed. When I die, I'll be taxed a third time. It's just not fair."

Noddy Holder is one of those one way or the other ones. He'd either reveal surprisingly enlightened and progressive views on a variety of topics, or have views that would make Adolf blanche.

Ringo Starr perhaps.

Tony Hadley

Ringo Starr has praised Brexit along with John Lydon. Confirmed gammon.

It's surprising how many people think paying tax on interest is the same as paying tax on the principal twice. Perhaps it would be plainer if we returned to the expression that was used in Harold Wilson's time, "unearned income".

BuddhaPest - 24 Apr 2021 20:56:27 (#23 of 185)

Mick Jagger

Off the back of my head, a hero in my young teenage years

Lloyd Cole

please no!

Shadrack22 - 24 Apr 2021 20:57:31 (#25 of 185)

I suspect Bill Wyman is more gammony than Jagger.

Ebadlun - 24 Apr 2021 20:57:33 (#26 of 185)

Being set up for life by writing one song in 1973 is pretty good going, so Noddy can shut it.

Dapper Laughs

The flip side is good though. When people you wouldn't expect turn out to be both sound and funny.

Dave Bautista's twitter feed was a pleasant surprise for e.g.

Wyman's autobiography includes accounting from 40 years ago that proves he paid more than others. Also nonce.

FGBFGB - 24 Apr 2021 21:02:54 (#30 of 185)

I remember in the 70s reading a profile of Slade in my sister's NME, saying (uncritically) that one of the band (unnamed) had put up NF stickers all round their dressing room.

bossab2 - 24 Apr 2021 21:08:10 (#31 of 185)

He reveals that he had a chance to vote in the EU Referendum, but chose not to, regaling the amount of misinformation fed the public from both sides of the debate.

Gary Newman proves to be an apathetic twat

I wouldn't hold up the inheritance thing as being representative of anyones views overall - when it comes to tax, pretty much all pop stars are fairly right wing.
