Our Lost Summer

And now you're working in a bank

A family man, a football fan

And your name is Harry

Whimsy and seriousness, sunshine and scattered showers.

Whimsy and seriousness, sunshine and scattered showers.

Best wishes be upon this house.

Za'atar spiced steaks with roasted cauliflower and broccoli, cheesy mash and smoky sauce. Also, inaugural outing for the steak knives.

PreachyPreach - 10 Jun 2021 15:56:45 (#7 of 916)

I find out, from my old school newsletter of all places, that there's a Moomin theme park in Japan these days.

HelenDamnation - 10 Jun 2021 15:58:15 (#8 of 916)

Why is it in your skool newsletter? Was it founded by an Old Custardian? Maybe Grabber moved on from the Mrs joyful prize for rafia work?

nemo75 - 10 Jun 2021 16:01:51 (#9 of 916)

Moomins are creepy.

sorry cats

PreachyPreach - 10 Jun 2021 16:02:09 (#10 of 916)

Oddly, yes, an Old Custardian, after retiring from vole strangling, decided to run it as his last task

#6 I've seem so much of a this cauliflower as steak nonsense that I was wondering why on earth you were bothering with steak knives for cauliflower. (I am very fond of cauliflower, but steak it is not)

Antimatter - 10 Jun 2021 16:05:02 (#12 of 916)

It is proper steak Limegreen, cooked rare and still mooing.

nemo75 - 10 Jun 2021 16:06:21 (#13 of 916)

Have we talked about a thread meet at PEI?

Catspyjamas17 - 10 Jun 2021 16:36:33 (#14 of 916)

Moomins are creepy.

The creepiness is all part of the attraction I think for me. One person's creepy is another's Nordic melancholy.

LippyPongstocking - 10 Jun 2021 16:38:08 (#15 of 916)

I adored the Moomin books as a young'n' - they boast an array of delightfully off-kilter characters, such as Little My and The Groke. And I always wanted a pet Hattifattener.

Catspyjamas17 - 10 Jun 2021 16:41:44 (#16 of 916)

I didn't actually read (much) of the books as a child, may have had one or two from the library, but it would have been as a result of watching the stop go animated series first.

DejaLu - 10 Jun 2021 16:50:01 (#17 of 916)

My big boss was drinking from a Moomin mug in a meeting yesterday. That made me happy.

Surely Japan is the perfect place for Moominland, outside Finland?

staticgirl - 10 Jun 2021 16:53:16 (#18 of 916)

It doesn't remotely surprise me that the Japanese are fond of the ole Moomins especially when I think of the nature spirits depicted in Studio Ghibli films.

One of my relatives handed me down Comet in Moominland which I was quite scared by and I didn't read the others as a result.

The only thing with Moomin mugs is they need to make a much bigger version too.
