Lost One of Those Things

Post your whimsy-laden thoughts here.

The reenactors were, Tbf, very happy to let him have a go afterwards.

That sounds like small boy paradise.

His big sister had fun too (see IG)

We're the re-enact ors blue with cold ? It's been perishing here for a couple of days, and tonight we've put the heating on.

To Pedro's for Assagini Pescatore, Seared Tuna, Halibut, Atlantic Salmon, Digby Scallops, Gulf Shrimp, served on seafood Risotto and Arugula, also, far too many cocktails. A nap is in order.

There's a Dead Dog's Bottom in Gloucestershire. It's near Drinker's End and Drugger's End.

Waterley Bottom isn't far off either. Used to be a nice pub in Waterley Bottom, between thirty and fifteen years ago - I hope it's still true. (Fuck all else, though, roughly three farmhouses I think. Best to access by walking over the hill from Dursley, since that way you get out of Dursley and you don't have to drive the roads to Waterley Bottom.)

Dursley’s not that bad.

They lock Harry Potter in the cupboard under the stairs!

Surf and turf frenzy here. I bought three live lobsters from the stall on the beach, taught the sapling how to hypnotise them before cooking them and a vast amount of flank steaks (((Costco))).

#967 I accept that, globally, there are many, many worse places to be a bookwormish teenager with no social skills. But it was still a fairly unpleasant place for it, and I hold a grudge! (My mother assures me that Dursley has gone up-market since she moved to Stroud, and she assumes there's causation as well as correlation, but I haven't got around to visiting to see whether I agree.)

Sab, I'm stuffed full of pizza and I still want your dinner.

I just had the slightly scary experience of yawning widely at my phone while unlocking it and it refused to recognise me.

Dubris - 30 Aug 2021 20:50:31 (#972 of 2017)

Yawning would distort the shape of your face though.

carterbrandon - 30 Aug 2021 21:52:04 (#973 of 2017)

I had to do a speedy alternative-fingerprint-add on the phone I use for all my work 2FA logins after, er, modifying my biometric with the Sabatier knife I sharpened last week.

Sabacious - 30 Aug 2021 21:52:49 (#974 of 2017)

I am absolutely stuffed and want to eat my dinner again too. More lobsters this week I think. Trying to convince the teenagers that tomalley is considered a delicacy by some was a fruitless exercise, for them. All the more for me!

Sabacious - 30 Aug 2021 21:53:21 (#975 of 2017)

Ouch, Carter!

Dubris - 31 Aug 2021 06:04:23 (#976 of 2017)

It is Tuesday. I had hoped to take today off but that wasn't possible because too many of my colleagues had already had the same idea. This is disappointing.

And yes, I do have Friday off instead but it's not the same.

Cordelia - 31 Aug 2021 07:17:43 (#977 of 2017)

I have Thursday off, which is helping slightly at the moment.

Lagopus - 31 Aug 2021 07:34:26 (#978 of 2017)

I am on holiday at the seaside and hoping to do some rowing today on East Yorkshire's largest and possibly only natural lake while watching a very rare colony of Little Gulls, a rather lovely, dainty bird that gets ignored because it's both very rare and a gull.

LippyPongstocking - 31 Aug 2021 07:38:52 (#979 of 2017)

Another day shrouded in a blanket of cloud, which I suppose befits the return to work after a long weekend.

Cordelia - 31 Aug 2021 07:39:34 (#980 of 2017)

I had to put my dressing gown on this morning as well. Chilly.
