Things that worry you (but probably shouldn't)

Strange noises that come out of the works' mobile. Is it a warning? A signal that more charge is needed? Or a social media update?

I'm so worried about the baggage retrievalSystem they've got at Heathrow.

Those websites that need further and further evidence of your identity. Eventually you end up doubting your own existence.

That after watching several episodes of his recent series, Universe, in which Prof Brian Cox explained that eventually all of the stars would die and plunge everything into everlasting darkness, I have realised that when he once sang 'Things Can Only Get Better' he was lying to us.

As a kid I worried that if the aqueduct carrying the canal in my home town collapsed, since the canal ran from coast to coast eventually all the waters of the North Sea and Firth of Clyde would inundate the town and we'd all DIE DIE DIE DIE.

My walk to school used to take me past an enormous gas holder. I would always run past it, until I reckoned I was far enough away to be safe when it inevitably blew up.

I am very worried about The Queen. She must've had a very good reason to miss the ceremony at the cenotaph yesterday and with only two hours' notice.

Going to Manchester Airport on the "Smart" M6 - scares the shit out of me. When this minor illness business is eventually over I think we'll go by train.

Meetings. I get anxious before any meeting, and I'm WFH. It's stupid and annoying.

Civil engineering. I just don't trust it. Bridges, flyovers, multi storey car parks, I don't trust any of them.

Global thermonuclear holocaust, the end of everything. And the Queen.

Is my boiled egg sufficiently cooked to counteract the various bugs that inhabit same?

No. Prepare to die.

Lawlsie - 16 Nov 2021 14:14:40 (#15 of 66)

I worry about everything. I worry when I have nothing to worry about. I worry most when there's nothing to worry about. I am a born worrier.

The thing that's been worrying me terribly since the start of October has been the huge ash-tree branch that half-twisted, half-fell and was in danger of landing on the road.

Just now I'm worrying about the men with chain saws and very long ladders (can't even look) tackling it.

If all goes well I'll be able to stop worrying every time the wind gets high.

the relentless freefall of the left while right wingers continue to rise and flourish

That would worry me hugely too. I remember the 1987 hurricane in London and the south east. I was staying in a home where the large tree at the front of the garden was bending right over in the high winds, its branches touching the bedroom window. I was convinced any minute it would come crashing through.

Oldbathrobe1 - 16 Nov 2021 14:30:59 (#19 of 66)

I'm not worried about the Queen. I have Netflix and managed to avoid Phil the Greek entirely between demise and planting.

No. Prepare to die.

Now I am worried. I'd assume someone with your username knows a thing or two about eggs.
