Lost Christmas, I gave you my Sprout.

Whimsy R number suggests < 2000 posts before Xmas.

Yes, I always feel sort of virtuously old fashioned, if a little dull when I actually do meat and two veg.

Dubris - 16 Dec 2021 18:54:16 (#15 of 2020)

Obviously I'm not going to recreate the full 1970s teatime with savoury mince and potatoes (and cabbage) cooked in the pressure cooker, not least because I don't have a pressure cooker.

Sushi here, my favourite go to when I cannot be bothered to cook. Fortunately it has now stopped snowing and we are back into + temperatures. I am starting to warm up to the idea of Christmas, very little left to do before Friday.

My Dad has just asked me if I "could manage a Celebrity Bargain Hunt before we watch proper TV". He seems to be worried we might run out of good TV to watch.

No danger of that these days!

Ginmonkey - 16 Dec 2021 19:16:39 (#19 of 2020)

Sainsbury's are selling mince pie mini shredded wheats.

Dubris - 16 Dec 2021 19:17:01 (#20 of 2020)

What? How? Why?

Ginmonkey - 16 Dec 2021 19:19:00 (#21 of 2020)

I know. My local Sainsbury's has an aisle of mad stuff they clearly bought for a bet.

It is on there. Along with catering sized packs of Big D peanuts (pictures of boobs not included)

Espresso martini cheese, anyone?

MysteryDate - 16 Dec 2021 19:31:47 (#23 of 2020)

I've made a very large and comforting pasta dish from one of the Gousto recipes. Lots left for tomorrow too.

The Cote at Home stuff is excellent, really good quality.

Reindeerlia - 16 Dec 2021 19:42:31 (#24 of 2020)

I mostly ate hummus as I have a very sore throat.

HollyGolightly - 16 Dec 2021 19:44:38 (#25 of 2020)

We were thinking about ordering cote at home for NYE…..

Dubris - 16 Dec 2021 19:45:19 (#26 of 2020)

I misread "hummus" as "humans" and was worried.

Bodgit - 16 Dec 2021 19:45:41 (#27 of 2020)

We got those mince pie shredded wheats last year. They were fine, but the cereal eaters round here ranked this years reindeer munch mix slightly higher.

Dubris - 16 Dec 2021 19:46:04 (#28 of 2020)

Remind me - how good is Cote at Home for the single diner?

Reindeerlia - 16 Dec 2021 19:51:48 (#29 of 2020)

Very good - so long as you don’t mind either eating it twice in a row or freezing some.

Sabacious - 16 Dec 2021 19:52:30 (#30 of 2020)

Here’s a thing

Reindeerlia - 16 Dec 2021 19:53:18 (#31 of 2020)

I was just reading that. It’s brilliant.

JennyRad - 16 Dec 2021 19:56:51 (#32 of 2020)

MrRad and I are both extremely tired today, so we've ordered pizza and done LFTs.

I didn't have cold symptoms until I stuck a swab up my nose. Now I can't stop sneezing and my nose is blocked.

(It's a week since I spent a jovial little while in a small kitchen with a colleague who had a positive test two days later. At least one of us was masked throughout the jollifications, and I've had two negative LFTs since. Paranoia, however, is my friend.)

This, Dubris. Things such as the fish parmentier are very good for doing either. I imagine the meat dishes are similar.
