I can't believe we used to live in a world with Touché Turtle in it.
Yesterday was a day without power due to a lovely storm. I proceeded to drink my own body weight of Sauvignon Blanc and this has left me feeling very Christmassy, earworms and all. It is quite exhausting.
#1956: But metaphors are only partial, and you have to develop an understanding of which bits are applicable and which aren't. For example the stacking aspect is close to the real world one, but the 'infinitely extendable in all directions' bit isn't.
I could get all Lakoff about how metaphors steer thinking (ooo, there's one now!), but that would take the thread off-track (and another...)
I used to love Touché Turtle when I was a nipper.
Difficult to choose between Touché Turtle and Dogtanian when it comes to swordsmanship.
Who would win in a fight?
The turtle because Dogtanian is only a junior musketeer...
It would surely depend a lot on the element of surprise. Muskehounds are, after all, always ready...
Snap!
#1953 and #1957 are both very relevant. We went back to Currys (where the 'phone was bought) and established that the old SIM is indeed a bit damaged. I'll therefore be sorting out a new one for Mum.
And then we went for a very pleasant seaside walk at Broadstairs, including ice cream and coffee from Morelli's.
I think I'd back Dogtanian in a duel, because he's quicker, but in a fight to the death it would have to be the turtle, because he can just keep going back in his shell while he bides his time.
I may be overthinking this.
You’re right though - the turtle has built-in armour, giving him a decided advantage over the dog.
In “I (occasionally) love technology” news, I have just ordered my interval drink for tonight’s ballet from the comfort of my sofa.
How very civilised, and now that's given me a thirst for something interval-appropriate.
Snakebite and black?
MrA has just finished digging out the car. I have poured myself a glass of wine. We have more snow.
