Detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have “outstanding work” left to do on the inquiry and may apply for more Home Office funding. In April, then-home secretary Theresa May granted the team £95,000 to keep the investigation going, with the cash expected to last until October. On Wednesday, Scotland Yard said it would talk to the Home Office about further funding.
"Our regular fact-finding trips to the Algarve don't pay for themselves," said lead detective Seamus Macallister. Tax Payers Alliance spokesperson Lindsay Entwhistle said, "It is outrageous that police want more money when they have clearly failed to find this tragic tot. But it's better than being spent on asylum seekers I suppose."

Isn't that wandering into libellous territory?
Isn't that wandering into libellous territory?
Probably. Unless of course it's true.
Though it's been said so many times in so many places I'm not sure there's such scope to claim damage to reputation.
Not cool.
What's not cool, menters? Surely enough water has passed under the bridge that we can mock a tragic tot with a clear conscience, no?
They lost their libel case against head of Portuplod who basically said that. (Well they won it, but then lost it and can't appeal).
Portugal's not cool, at this time of year. More long drinks for the Constable!

Enjoy making light of dead children.
How do you know she's dead? Is there something you need to share?
I'm not sure there's such scope to claim damage to reputation.
