A simple list of Obama's achievements, apart from ...

Bringing another 22 million people into the health care system

Raising levels of employment to new heights

Reducing the national debt by ...how much?

Having a scandal-free presidency.

I wish to be better-informed, and better-inform some doubters.

once we get past the initial burst of nay-sayers.

Out of control global spying apparatus.

Which is also going to trump. Although he seems to hate his spy agencies guts so who knows where that leaves us.

Didn't he pledge to close Guantanamo down completely?

He didn't reduce the national debt by anything, as the US government still runs a deficit. He reduced the deficit though.

He followed the deplorable Bush, and was hailed as being someone new and better, the one who would put right all Bush's blunders. But he let down those who hailed him as some sort of messiah by being - well - just another president. Made some promises, even tried to keep some, but in the end couldn't deliver as much as everyone hoped. The despatch of inconvenient foreigners by drone left a bad taste, as did the deportations. On the plus side, he tried to make American health care more affordable for more Americans, and the sky didn't fall. He did reduce the numbers in Guantanamo, although he didn't close it completely. There is no record of him trying to leave a room by the wrong door.

It seems to have aged quite well. I had him as about 50 rather than 55.

robespere - 18 Jan 2017 22:26:23 (#20 of 83)

He listened to experts and got too fixated with their opinion. He should have just winged it and made stuff up.
