Most Europeans want immigration ban from Muslim-majority countries, poll reveals

A majority of Europeans want a ban on immigration from Muslim-majority countries, a poll has revealed.

An average of 55 per cent of people across the 10 European countries surveyed wanted to stop all future immigration from mainly Muslim countries.

Obviously I'm sure the main bulk of that 50% of Europeans are just bigots, but the question for today is:

What can be done to change people's attitudes about welcoming people different to themselves?

Is there anything incoming populations should have to do?

Yammoto - 08 Feb 2017 10:32:02 (#2 of 653)

Why are they bigots?

Agaliarept - 08 Feb 2017 10:33:22 (#3 of 653)

Why are they bigots?

Just heading off the obvious counter. I'm sure that will be the initial thought here.

I'm wary about groups of young men coming into the country, on the other hand I've no problem with couples or family groups coming in.

Based on the muslim experience I'd say people are absolutely entitled to view muslim immigration with deep concern.

No such concerns over other groups such as Hindu's, Sikhs or Jews, but then those groups simply don't make a fuss and don't run around murdering people.

10 points to me

zardoz - 08 Feb 2017 10:40:06 (#7 of 653)

Yep, this one had Agalia's creepy fingerprints all over it.

Based on the muslim experience

Is that a theme park ride?

saintmatt - 08 Feb 2017 10:41:12 (#8 of 653)

#5 I know I cant move on the streets of my home town for the groups of Muslims running around murdering people, its constant bloodshed 24hours a day. I would complain to them but they cut the heads off EVERYBODY that even looks at them

Ginmonkey - 08 Feb 2017 10:42:48 (#9 of 653)

I'm going out for dinner with some muslims tomorrow. I'll let you know if they do terrorism on me.

Agaliarept - 08 Feb 2017 10:43:00 (#10 of 653)

So good to see everyone having a go at answering the questions in #1.

rgtstoppedcounting - 08 Feb 2017 10:43:01 (#11 of 653)

Can this be right?

Every state apart from Spain has more thick racists than we do?

Yammoto - 08 Feb 2017 10:43:27 (#12 of 653)

Is that a theme park ride?

Yeah, its called the Tube of Pure Hate followed by the Exploding Bus from Hell.

Agaliarept - 08 Feb 2017 10:46:12 (#13 of 653)

Appreciate you coming to announce to the official JTT party line RGT.

Ginmonkey - 08 Feb 2017 10:46:21 (#14 of 653)

It's a stupid question that is why. Muslims are culturally and racially diverse a group as Christians. My mate R has no more in common with members of ISIS than I, as someone of Christian heritage have anything in common with those loons who shoot doctors who offer abortions.

TommyDGNR8 - 08 Feb 2017 10:46:39 (#15 of 653)

Every state apart from Spain has more thick racists than we do?

Has ever been thus. The Spain result's probably flaky.

The Pew survey is even worse nonsense, according to that everyone in Europe is more Islamophobic than the Brits.

saintmatt - 08 Feb 2017 10:48:06 (#17 of 653)

There are 2 Muslims in my office right now. I will have to keep an eye on those murderous gits. I mean, they have been nothing but absolutely kind, warm and friendly to me in all the time that I have known them, but now I know that they are beheaders I will be on my guard

Yammoto - 08 Feb 2017 10:48:11 (#18 of 653)

Whats the murder toll in France?

Can't imagine that's anything to do with it.

BlankChank - 08 Feb 2017 10:48:12 (#19 of 653)

'Muslims are culturally and racially diverse a group as Christians'

But of course one of the main activities of the Wahabites is converting Muslims from other strands of their faith to their extreme version and/or denouncing them as 'apostates'.

according to that everyone in Europe is more Islamophobic than the Brits.

The Dutch and Austrians probably are. Italians too.

For all of our posturing we don't do open hatred as much as people seem to think we do.
