So, apart from Brexit how do you think things are going?

What with threats of a trade war with the US and a cyber war with Russia it doesn't seem to be going too well. What do you think, storms in teacups or could it develop into something more serious?

Dunno, is there a town in England without a grooming gang?

SheikYerbouti - 13 Mar 2018 14:56:31 (#3 of 76)

Yes? Well, lets get down there and start one!

FleurDuMal - 13 Mar 2018 15:18:26 (#4 of 76)

Eastbourne?

carterbrandon - 13 Mar 2018 15:22:14 (#5 of 76)

Frinton? Poundbury?

Shadrack22 - 13 Mar 2018 16:54:37 (#6 of 76)

how do you think things are going?

Badly. If I was half my age and single, I’d seriously consider working abroad for a few years. A palpable sense of diminishing returns in the UK at the moment.

Yammoto - 13 Mar 2018 16:59:29 (#7 of 76)

Time to give the internet a rest then.

Somewhere with a bit of sun. Greece maybe, or Italy.

roguestate - 13 Mar 2018 17:01:49 (#9 of 76)

Ooh, you wouldn't like that.

Shadrack22 - 13 Mar 2018 17:02:31 (#10 of 76)

The distant lights of Serifos.

machiavelli - 13 Mar 2018 17:24:05 (#11 of 76)

Trump has just sacked a moderately competent secretary of state and moved up worse candidates. Get ready for the Iran nuclear deal to unravel.

indlovubill - 13 Mar 2018 17:30:29 (#12 of 76)

Greece maybe, or Italy.

Greece, riggers ?? With all those punishment beatings being dished out by the Germans, or do you like that sort of thing?

HerrWalrus - 13 Mar 2018 17:34:07 (#13 of 76)

Indeed, Riggers promised us that anyday now, there'd be an influx of 100, 000s of Greeks coming to London for work. Any day now...

machiavelli - 13 Mar 2018 17:38:01 (#14 of 76)

There's five of them in my workplace.

HerrWalrus - 13 Mar 2018 17:43:58 (#15 of 76)

As to the question - in our micro-zone (Kilburn) the economy appears resilient so far. True, a couple of pubs and a Caffe Nero have closed, but I suspect they were struggling longterm anyway. Certainly the takeaway outfits seem to be holding up well, but that "may" be at the expense of sit down restaurants. Hard to know the true picture with restaurants as we always have places folding within months of opening.

As for xenophobic abuse etc. We did notice an increase in the area for 12-18 months after the ref., but mercifully it appears to have gone quiet again. As have the moped muggings, so fingers crossed there.

Macpaddy - 13 Mar 2018 17:51:01 (#16 of 76)

An obviously organised criminal gang of Greeks tried to open a restaurant in Lyndhurst. We soon saw them off.

bossab2 - 13 Mar 2018 18:26:25 (#17 of 76)

Very badly if the UK tries to take on Russia...

annetjie - 13 Mar 2018 19:21:10 (#18 of 76)

Or the US. Despite Farage's support of Trump tariffs.

rgtstoppedcounting - 13 Mar 2018 19:22:57 (#19 of 76)

Blimey. Bill and Herr W. One shot, right between the eyes.

Peacock - 13 Mar 2018 19:25:53 (#20 of 76)

Thousands of Greeks have emigrated to the uk and the rest of Europe in the last few years. This is hardly news.
