More decent discussion from the UK News stalwarts
Would that other companies did likewise.
A firm I worked for did that once. It generated a huge amount of good will. I don't know why firms don't do it more often.
I have started a thread in the Haven asking what people would spend the £300 on
If the government gave everyone a £300 bonus - or better yet £500 tax free - it would stimulate the economy. Especially if you had to spend it; say something like time-limited vouchers with your name on so couldn't be swapped.
If Johnson has any sense he'll do something like that and call it a Brexit bonus! The government would get a lot of money back in VAT and other taxes too due to more spend in the economy.
If Johnson has any sense
Ah. I see a slight flaw in your plan.
Heh...
It's what they should have done in the 2008 crash. And in a way Darling did do that by slashing VAT. Then Osborne put it up to 20%. He responded to the crash in precisely the wrong way! Now they plan a splurge, or say they do. But how will they pay for it if we're out the EU and don't have trade deals in place?
#4823 - Not (c) then? Cos that's what actually happened!
In the last 5 minutes, I've just discovered that the South Yorkshire Police Operations Complex is situated on Letsby Avenue, in Sheffield.
Mind genuinely blown.
That is deliberate, though:

That's really nice of Greggs. Would that other companies did likewise.
It's nice for the outlet workers, but the factory is pretty unpleasant. I know several people, who've worked there. Many of them are agency staff, as well.
I've just remembered! My brother in law works for Greggs!
I’d forgotten Wolverhampton.
same here
Brother in law will get the bonus! Works nights as a delivery driver for Greggs. Says they're good employers and he works nights from choice.
You couldn't make this up!
