Corbyn lurks round the corner with a resignation letter and a tray full of pints

OK, maybe not the resignation letter. In which case I will be paying for the pints.

Referring to the long-running bet I've had with Shadders, and the associated drink.

The time is drawing near(ish). Maybe time to think about venue, nominated pint recipients, and generally put the word around for Great Northern JTT Meet of Jan 2019.

Boo I thought this thread meant he'd resigned.

Shadrack22 - 23 Oct 2018 21:44:49 (#2 of 825)

I keep telling you that he won’t resign!

I now live in the north. What could be better than discussing Corbzy for reals.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 21:47:08 (#4 of 825)

I seem to remember the terms of the bet stipulated that Shadders and myself each nominate 10 persons to be present for the distribution of the first round (paid for by bet-loser)

I'm afraid I can't remember who I nominated back in the day. But I would like to invite the following 10 posters (in no particular order):

  • 3FlewOver
  • Jacob_Richter
  • lusmeri (who I will email)
  • Roselovelady
  • TinyMcOtter
  • clammy
  • Peacalmer
  • InTownTonight
  • PolicyWatcher (who might want travel up with me from Swindon)
  • Tripos

There are others (e.g. xDiggy) who I would also hope to see that night, but I assume will be on Shadders' guest list

All others of course, more than welcome

On second thoughts.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 21:47:46 (#6 of 825)

lol

Shadrack22 - 23 Oct 2018 21:48:51 (#7 of 825)

I’m away the middle two weekends of January, so either the first or the last weekend would be better for me.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 21:49:30 (#8 of 825)

First weekend (5th/6th) very possibly a go-er for me

Shadrack22 - 23 Oct 2018 21:53:26 (#9 of 825)

5th/6th fine for me.

Jonked is in West Yorkshire. FleurDuMal is in Harrogate. FrankieTeardrop and Peacalmer are both in Leeds.

On edit: from the original thread ......

Paging Jonked, TheExcession, JohnIlly, FleurduMal, Sophster, TommyDGNR8, IanCress, Kucinghitam, AltCee, Vendor, Moto748, Peacalmer and any others in the north of England.

#9 Invite them all!

It would great to finally meet Big Jase if he's up North as well (I thought it was Norwich). It would also be good to see Bloss again for the first time in 18 years (!). If returnofthepowemonkey is who I think she is, it would be certainly complete the picture to see her as well.

There are various people I would like to meet but who don't get on with some of the people I've invited. I accept that seeing those people (Lawlsie, Chank et al) may require another meet another time.

If Little Hatters doesn't have an allergic shock if he goes north of the Watford gap, it would be to see him as well.

10 tedious points.

Old Brunz can join by video link from our Paris studio.

Norwich was a dry run for leaving London, as it turned out.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 22:05:03 (#15 of 825)

Bruno - you old grumpy fecker. You are of course welcome as well.

Shadrack22 - 23 Oct 2018 22:07:33 (#16 of 825)

I might try to unearth Toil from Leeds West (Lab, Rachel Reeves, maj. 16,000).

Brunothecat - 23 Oct 2018 22:12:04 (#17 of 825)

Bruno - you old grumpy fecker.

Three years of constant repetition and he still hasn't resigned.

I think you're going to have to get used to the idea.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 22:12:32 (#18 of 825)

I will probably need to schlep over Thirsk afterwards, to a station-side venue in the afternoon would be ideal.

Saturday preferable to Sunday. If Sunday, I'd be travelling in the opposite direction, probably with Mrs Ming and the Minglet. Could still be done, but would require a bit more choreography.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 22:14:27 (#19 of 825)

Bruno - Corbyn retiring is not something I am actually not that bothered by either way. Other than getting the pints.

Its Corbynism that I want to continue. And it will. Its hardwired into the party now.

mingmong - 23 Oct 2018 22:14:37 (#20 of 825)

Anyway, one for the other thread..
