Jewish cemetery vandalised in Greater Manchester

Police investigating an “abhorrent” attack on a Jewish cemetery in Greater Manchester are treating it as a hate crime.

Vandals targeted three chapels at Phillips Park in Whitefield, Bury, and smashed a prominent gravestone, two windows and several wash basins.

CCTV equipment was also stolen from within one of the buildings in an attempt to cover up the attack, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

I am noticing more and more anti Semitic comments, completely unrelated to the content on some of the shadier sites I visit. Mostly (it seems) from America.

Seems on the rise here too.

This also form Paris this weekend:

Antisemitic graffiti found on bagel shop in Paris

Antisemitic graffiti has been sprayed across a bagel shop in the old Jewish quarter of Paris, prompting a police investigation.

Officers in the French capital said the word “Juden” – German for Jews – was discovered yesterday as anti-government “yellow vest” protesters and police forces clashed in other parts of the city.

What do you mean by shadier sites?

I'm not sure if Twitter counts as such; coincidentally or not, I've just seen an awful lot of accounts about how Jews are behind all the white genocide that's everywhere now, but that may just be bad luck.

What do you mean by shadier sites?

Mainly things like ync.com and most lately crazyshit.com.

Please do not access these sites from work!

I was thinking of starting a thread about it.

There is some support for the yellow vests in the UK from our fascist element, I think it's worthy of its own discussion. The only thing that stopped me from giving it its own thread is it would have to go in international and there's literally no point trying to discuss anything there!

I saw on Twitter that the synagogue had said that they believed the vandalism was theft from travellers and they therefore did not consider it a hate crime.

I saw that tweet on the googles but GMP police seem to disagree. Also Rabbi Brown who tweeted that and is quoted in the linked article is based in Liverpool.

I wonder why he was contacted for a quote?

Also, also: It wasn't a single synagogue but three separate chapels.

Jewish folk aren't actually buried in the synagogue.

TrouserFreak - 11 Feb 2019 11:10:52 (#9 of 26)

Fair enough. I was a bit surprised by the speed at which some people on Twitter wanted to brush the whole thing under the carpet when travellers were identified, rightly or wrongly, as culprits.

Looks like AS to me.

Agaliarept - 11 Feb 2019 11:11:50 (#10 of 26)

Looks like AS to me.

Definitely. Going for the graves is a known tactic of anti semites.

TrouserFreak - 11 Feb 2019 11:43:26 (#11 of 26)

Sadly there has been an increase in AS over the last few years. It's the Corbyn effect.

It's the Corbyn effect.

The Israel effect.

Not sure Corbz can be blamed for American poster's comments and I'm not sure many of the right wing loonz in the UK support him.

Maybe you're right though and it was a group of liberal luvvies from thatLondon.

Hmm, I wonder why that is.

There are about 45 million Muslims in the EU. They don't take the same view of Israel as the 35 million Christian Zionists in the USA.

The traditional Christian antisemitism still exists, of course. The Jewish Chronicle was making use of it to bolster their anti-Corbynism.

Yet helping the poor to lose their chains was accompanied by a rise in antisemitism in this devoutly Catholic country. ...the main Jewish organisation in Venezuela documented 4,000 antisemitic incidents.(2013) https://www.thejc.com/comment/comment/corbyn-blind-eye-approach-to-venezuela-mirrors-his-prejudice-over-the-middle-east-1.479753

Chikey, you're even sillier than I had first thought.

I hope the old Trews parents weren't in the Greater Manchester area over the weekend.
