Over 60s females forced to work on the tills...

Disgraceful, they should be working in the fields, bossab.

wickeltisch - 14 May 2019 14:16:45 (#3 of 179)

….and no mention of tills in the article.

browserbutton - 14 May 2019 14:17:06 (#4 of 179)

They should be tilling the soil, not soiling the tills.

Lies; damn lies; and government statistics...

... and bossab's thread titles

Cheap foreign labour works much faster than old people.

Old people end up in B&Q and Garden Centres.

MaryMC - 14 May 2019 14:21:33 (#7 of 179)

Old people end up in B&Q and Garden Centres.

You really are pig-ignorant, bossab, not to mention prejudiced.

bossab2 - 14 May 2019 14:22:43 (#8 of 179)

Try using your eyes.

And if people can be bothered to read the link:

"The ONS said the increase in the employment rate for women is due partly to changes to the state pension age for women, so fewer women are retiring between the ages of 60 and 65"

wickeltisch - 14 May 2019 14:23:18 (#9 of 179)

You really are pig-ignorant

Perhaps he works in a garden centre. He's not a spring chicken anymore.

MaryMC - 14 May 2019 14:25:01 (#10 of 179)

Try using your eyes.

I'm a female over 60, working in a highly-skilled professional job, and not interested in retiring yet. There are many more like me.

Also, if my spreadsheet isn't mistaken, you're well on the way to being an "old person" yourself, right? So you might try being less scathing about them.

nemo75 - 14 May 2019 14:27:15 (#11 of 179)

Old people end up in B&Q and Garden Centres.

You go to petrol stations a lot too, don’t you?

wickeltisch - 14 May 2019 14:29:37 (#12 of 179)

As an old person I prefer garden centres to petrol stations. Not for working, for visiting.

bossab2 - 14 May 2019 14:33:31 (#13 of 179)

So are older women choosing to work over 60 - or being forced into it by the lack of a state pension?

And if they are being forced: where are they working ?

wickeltisch - 14 May 2019 14:37:59 (#14 of 179)

where are they working ?

So you admit your thread header was wrong?

nemo75 - 14 May 2019 14:40:38 (#15 of 179)

The disparate pension ages were grossly unfair.

wickeltisch - 14 May 2019 14:43:23 (#16 of 179)

The disparate pension ages were grossly unfair.

That's why in my job in Germany retirement age was always 65 for females (though this was only in civil servant jobs, not in private businesses). Now it's going up to 67 for both men and women.

dmlc133 - 14 May 2019 14:44:06 (#17 of 179)

Aren't people of all ages forced to work in the absence of other sources income?

nemo75 - 14 May 2019 14:49:14 (#18 of 179)

Civil service pension was 60 here.

xDiggy - 14 May 2019 14:51:21 (#19 of 179)

Working the tills? Is this what they call it now?

wickeltisch - 14 May 2019 14:55:22 (#20 of 179)

So all the people who use self-service tills destroy job chances for older women and make them live on a low pension? Shame on them.
