Driver suspended for refusing to drive Gay Bus

A bus driver has been suspended for refusing to carry passengers on a vehicle adorned with Pride decorations because it "promotes homosexuality".

The man, who works for Norfolk-based company Konectbus, was said to be unhappy about the bus's number being multicoloured in a nod to the LGBT rainbow flag.

Good!

YorenInTheNorth - 14 Aug 2019 00:41:35 (#2 of 115)

Why did he wait until collecting passengers before kicking off?

Tenesmus - 14 Aug 2019 01:09:39 (#3 of 115)

Perhaps he didn't know he should be offended until a passenger explained what the multicolours meant.

CaptainBlack - 14 Aug 2019 01:23:02 (#4 of 115)

Was it the bus to Hebden Bridge?

YorenInTheNorth - 14 Aug 2019 01:27:13 (#5 of 115)

I don't think so.

Plenty of room on top.

The bus in the photograph is somewhat appropriately going to Thickthorn

HouseOfLametta - 14 Aug 2019 06:59:22 (#8 of 115)

It's the other bus.

I’ve never understood the whole ‘promoting gayness’ thing.

Does he really think that someone’s going to see a rainbow coloured number on a bus and suddenly get the urge to shag a member of the same sex?

thatshallot - 14 Aug 2019 07:18:37 (#10 of 115)

Also, no one is going to look at him and think that the driver of the bus is gay, gay, gay...gay, gay, gay...gay, gay, gay.

HorstVogel - 14 Aug 2019 07:23:14 (#11 of 115)

his mates down the pub probably would

or he wanted someone to change them.

TheSwearingBear - 14 Aug 2019 07:35:35 (#13 of 115)

Yeah, wouldn't want his mates to stop loving him.

Clearly its promoting Human Rights rather than gayness, its a laudable effort considering Lesbians have been recently attacked on a bus. But should people be suspended for objecting to it? I don't think these campaigns will be productive unless they they are agreed by all parties involved including the drivers.

HorstVogel - 14 Aug 2019 07:43:37 (#15 of 115)

what next, suspended for refusing to drive a bus with advertising for pork pies?

Dubris - 14 Aug 2019 07:59:56 (#16 of 115)

#14 - That could put us in the awkward position of not trying to change attitudes until the attitudes have already been changed.

HouseOfLametta - 14 Aug 2019 08:13:58 (#17 of 115)

So what exactly happens at Thickthorn Park and Ride?

HelenDamnation - 14 Aug 2019 08:31:36 (#18 of 115)

I know the answer to this! Lots of potato faced denizens of Norfolk leave their cars in a big field, get on the Big Gay Bus and trundle off to the bright lights of the big city (Norwich). Even more of their brethren take their cars in to indulge in the traditional East Anglian sport of Queueing Past The ‘Do Not Queue Past This Sign’ Sign at Chapelfield car park.

Bit of a clash of rights, but good for the Five Minute Hate.

Thickthorn - gateway to the west!
