The queen is dead?

No, not a Morrisey thread. Rumours abounding on the internets again.

Personally I think she will live forever.

Reposting what I put up earlier this morning:

Could be on the weird thread, but there's twitter banter about the Queen having died, which seems to originate in this:

So lots of references to Gibbo and Cheeks, plus Andrew Lilico accusing people of High Treason:

I don't think the queen is dead.

thisonehasalittlehat - 02 Dec 2019 09:34:38 (#3 of 81)

I mean the chances are if there is an internet rumour the queen is dead, that it's wrong. When the queen dies it probably won't be on twitter first. However, if she is dead, things would be interesting.

Crayola - 02 Dec 2019 09:34:42 (#4 of 81)

Neither do I tbh.

What is the lifespan for a lizard?

Crayola - 02 Dec 2019 09:35:03 (#6 of 81)

I wonder what it would mean for the GE

thisonehasalittlehat - 02 Dec 2019 09:36:17 (#7 of 81)

It would be interesting for that reason. Anyway, crayola, this is what the Daily Express is saying about you.

Sick trolls panic royal fans with 'evil' fake claim about Queen

If the queen died today, the country would go into national mourning for a period up to her funeral. Which would perhaps be a couple of weeks, although I guess you could get it organised in a week. During that time there could be no election campaigning. Obviously, that takes us up to probably Wednesday next week, and quite possible through the election. Would the election be pulled? Can it be pulled?

I don't know. Ten years ago I think it would have gone automatically, but not sure about today. Imagine we'd go into campaigning lite mode.

The other question is how it would change the votes. I'd imagine not as much as twenty years ago. Would be an assumption that it would benefit the tories. Not sure if that's true.

I mean suppose the queen died and her dying words were "Won't somebody rid me of this turbulent prime minister".

In fact I may start that as a rumour. Queen's final words: won't somebody rid me of this turbulent prime minister.

They'd be wanking on about it for fucking years. Remember what happened with Princess Diana?

HouseOfLametta - 02 Dec 2019 09:48:02 (#14 of 81)

If the queen snuffed it they wouldn't notify the military by WhatsApp group.

SinnerBoy - 02 Dec 2019 09:50:02 (#15 of 81)

I wonder if they'd prop her up for months, full of enbalming fluid, like some Soviet First Secretary?

Arjuna - 02 Dec 2019 09:51:59 (#16 of 81)

the internets be accusing Big Phil of bumping her off? Not sure he would kill his own missus, puts him out of a job.

FrankieTeardrop - 02 Dec 2019 10:16:51 (#17 of 81)

One good thing about the rise of tv streaming platforms is that even if the BBC and ITV decide to go into mourning for two weeks, showing nothing but royal family stuff, we can easily ignore it.

Agaliarept - 02 Dec 2019 10:20:39 (#18 of 81)

How long can one expect off work when she goes?

I could do with an extended break and I don't mind hamming up the grief to get a few extra days.

bailliegillies - 02 Dec 2019 10:29:37 (#19 of 81)

It would be the last time the UK goes into national mourning.

After her maj it will be a case of "So What"?

FrankieTeardrop - 02 Dec 2019 10:31:48 (#20 of 81)

"It would be the last time the UK goes into national mourning."

Well, the BBC and newspapers will pretend the UK has gone into national mourning.
