The wind is picking up around here (Meryseyside) and there is some rain but there is an eerie atmosphere.

Dubris - 08 Feb 2020 19:40:24 (#2 of 177)

Whereas in East Kent the sun set on clear blue skies earlier and the air is currently still.

Verdigris - 08 Feb 2020 19:41:54 (#3 of 177)

I've put the plants containers, that sit on dwarf walls in front of my porch, on the ground. They have been blown off, in the past, but it depends on the wind direction and localised effects. Better safe than sorry.

Have just heard first audible gust.

HouseOfLametta - 08 Feb 2020 19:42:24 (#4 of 177)

Yeah. Sorry about that.

Verdigris - 08 Feb 2020 19:45:14 (#5 of 177)

I've had sprouts for tea, too.

darkhorse - 08 Feb 2020 20:03:29 (#6 of 177)

It has reminded me of "Queen of Crunk" US r'n'b singer, Ciara.

Whom I admired on MTV in the early noughties.

I wrongly thought this coincided with Prince Andrew's Birthday.

They never named storms when I were a lad.

TheValkyrie - 09 Feb 2020 01:08:44 (#10 of 177)

Getting some howling wind now.

SinnerBoy - 09 Feb 2020 01:11:59 (#11 of 177)

Here too, along with rain.

elderberry - 09 Feb 2020 06:53:47 (#12 of 177)

We had a rainy and blowy afternoon and evening yesterday, nothing out of the ordinary. Spectacular lightning and thunder at around 2.30 -3.00, heavy rain and gusts of wind since. The dog just went out for a pee and came back quite wet after two minutes. It seems (from the reports on boards.ie) to have taken about two and a half hours to cross this country, so the squall line should start crossing the big island later in the morning. Batten the hatches.

Verdigris - 09 Feb 2020 09:05:46 (#13 of 177)

Bit of a (not very) damp squid, so far. Clouds are scudding swiftly, thoughbut.

hailesaladdie - 09 Feb 2020 09:16:36 (#14 of 177)

Gusts aren't too bad here so far (a good thing, as nextdoor has a load of building material lying about as it's being renovated before new neighbours move in). Lots of powercuts nearby though (and a couple of brownouts here).

tasselhoff - 09 Feb 2020 09:17:56 (#15 of 177)

60kmh gusts here in the middle of France

bossab2 - 09 Feb 2020 09:18:40 (#16 of 177)

A bit of wind and a bit of rain here.

hailesaladdie - 09 Feb 2020 09:19:23 (#17 of 177)

Met office is predicting 58mph here by 11. Not that unusual, given it's pretty much flat from here to the coast.

Catspyjamas17 - 09 Feb 2020 09:22:50 (#18 of 177)

#15 Cassoulet

NotACloggie - 09 Feb 2020 09:26:13 (#19 of 177)

the dog went out for a pee and came back quite wet...

Bet he was surprised to find he'd weed over himself.

FleurDuMal - 09 Feb 2020 09:28:29 (#20 of 177)

That blowback is a terrible thing ...
