Londoners! Rory Stewart wants to stay at your gaff so he can learn about your manor

The former Tory minister Rory Stewart is offering to stay on Londoners’ sofas to learn more about the city as he tries to revive his attempt to become the capital’s next mayor.

In a scheme he is calling #ComeKipWithMe, Stewart is urging people to offer him their sofa or floor for the night so that he can listen to their concerns about the city.

I would be very tempted.

TRaney - 12 Feb 2020 18:02:04 (#2 of 31)

Have you got a thing for simian perma-pained posh boys?

HorstVogel - 12 Feb 2020 18:03:01 (#3 of 31)

Voice may have a collection of stuff in the cellar.

AlanII - 12 Feb 2020 18:03:18 (#4 of 31)

I'd be very tempted if he brought opium along.

TheVoiceOfReason - 12 Feb 2020 18:03:45 (#5 of 31)

Always love a posh boy, Tranners.

Arjuna - 12 Feb 2020 18:04:23 (#6 of 31)

you should do it TVoR and live post the event on here.

TheVoiceOfReason - 12 Feb 2020 18:05:32 (#7 of 31)

I might just, Arjuna. Rory could then blog about what he learnt from the Gaymo Wealth Creating Cat Loving community.

Arjuna - 12 Feb 2020 18:10:03 (#8 of 31)

this whole campaign could be social media gold

RosyLovelady - 12 Feb 2020 18:24:45 (#9 of 31)

Go on, Lawlsie. He's just your type.

HouseOfLametta - 12 Feb 2020 18:32:57 (#10 of 31)

You have to answer the door in a nightie if he does come round.

TheVoiceOfReason - 12 Feb 2020 18:37:01 (#11 of 31)

I don’t usually wear anything to bed so I’m not sure how Rory would cope.

clammy - 12 Feb 2020 18:50:04 (#12 of 31)

Probably a 'small' fright.

RosyLovelady - 12 Feb 2020 19:22:57 (#13 of 31)

Bah, he could subdue one of those single handed.

DesEsseintes - 12 Feb 2020 23:59:04 (#14 of 31)

There is something quite bizarre about Sadiq Khan's

"And what I don’t do is treat Londoners like natives. We aren’t natives."

however.

HorstVogel - 13 Feb 2020 10:52:31 (#15 of 31)

perhaps he has a point, how many Londoners weren't born nor spent their childhood there?

mikeshadow - 13 Feb 2020 12:13:12 (#16 of 31)

Sadiq Khan is a native Londoner though.

Arjuna - 13 Feb 2020 12:34:29 (#17 of 31)

Rory was born in Hong Kong, he spent some of his childhood in Kensington but also in Malaysia and in various boarding schools.

I guess he realises that London is a City where you someone can live their whole life, especially from his background, without knowing much about other Londoners. It is quite endearing that he wants to do something about that but it may just bring into focus how out of touch is as he comes into contact with Londoners who don't have a place in the country too.

RosyLovelady - 13 Feb 2020 12:47:20 (#18 of 31)

There might be a book in it too.

DesEsseintes - 13 Feb 2020 19:17:30 (#19 of 31)

The Road to Westminster Peer

RosyLovelady - 13 Feb 2020 19:28:31 (#20 of 31)

Very good.
