JAILED: Child grooming gang who 'destroyed' girl's life with sex abuse

"the third in a series of linked cases involving multiple victims and defendants"

But they don't seem to have got the same attention as the Rotherham ones, for example.

bevernbridge - 14 Feb 2020 14:44:56 (#1 of 32)

There's been loads on the web about grooming in Oxford, if not the msm.

Sorry, I can't remember exactly, but I seem to recollect the Council got a tad litigous/denialist about it.

yep, another horrific case, at least they got caught and charged

I would have thought that being arrested, put on trial, being convicted and given substantial prison sentences amounted to getting 'attention'. Or have you been scanning the populist press for the size of the headlines and finding them not prominent enough?

AlanII - 14 Feb 2020 15:09:42 (#4 of 32)

Don't be silly, guigs.

The complaint is that child prostitution is not getting enough publicity. Is that really the case?

solomongursky - 14 Feb 2020 15:19:04 (#6 of 32)

It's not child prostitution you spanner. It's not voluntary.

guigal - 14 Feb 2020 15:26:08 (#7 of 32)

It's not voluntary.

What suggests to you that it could be voluntary?

solomongursky - 14 Feb 2020 15:32:10 (#8 of 32)

When you called it prostitution you thick twat.

airynothing - 14 Feb 2020 15:35:02 (#9 of 32)

Child prostitution, by definition, also isn't voluntary.

RosyLovelady - 14 Feb 2020 15:38:06 (#10 of 32)

I didn't know that "prostitution" automatically meant a freely chosen way of life. Shame on me, perhaps, but it's hard to keep up with all the stuff at which we're supposed to take vicarious offence.

solomongursky - 14 Feb 2020 15:39:13 (#11 of 32)

Even the beeb do it, a schoolgirl was groomed then murdered by a bloke so the bbc said she "had an affair" with him. Last year I think.

solomongursky - 14 Feb 2020 15:47:25 (#12 of 32)

For instance:

A Royal Navy lieutenant has been jailed after he started an affair with a 15-year-old girl which he carried on even after he had been caught with her.

David Anderson, 44, from Falmouth met the schoolgirl on an internet dating site

RosyLovelady - 14 Feb 2020 15:52:24 (#13 of 32)

I thought you were agonising over the meaning of the word "prostitution". I was mistaken.

solomongursky - 14 Feb 2020 15:52:54 (#14 of 32)

Prostituting themselves.

This implies that the child or young person is responsible for the abuse andhas the capacity to make a free and informed choice. It does not recognise the abusive or exploitative context. Changes in legislation have meant that child prostitution is no longer anacceptable term and should never be used.

Your link is to Guidance for Professionals.

I hope you don't think that the jargon imposed on state employees is obligatory for members of the public, not bound by a contract of employment.

It's been a great 24 hours from giggles.

He seems to have defaulted to stubborn obtuseness. It's a shame, as he has shown previously that he is capable of better.

Gotout - 15 Feb 2020 10:37:08 (#19 of 32)

It's a pity the bastards who exploit young girls can't be castrated.

Tadagee - 15 Feb 2020 10:39:34 (#20 of 32)

Yes tragic we don't have a criminal justice system that allows people to be maimed.
