It is not the headline story on BBC News channel. Trumped.

Second story is that other news channels are carrying a breaking story and that Royal Berkshire hospital are treating two stab victims. They also make the BLM connection, several times.

popstar7 - 20 Jun 2020 21:10:08 (#4 of 240)

It's a 10-minute walk from me. Probably would have gone if I'd known it was taking place.

solomongursky - 20 Jun 2020 21:12:30 (#5 of 240)

They also make the BLM connection, several times.

Except it's just the venue where BLM protests are held, there was nothing going on. The reporting is making connections on flimsy stuff.

popstar7 - 20 Jun 2020 21:16:29 (#6 of 240)

The BLM rally/event ended at 4pm apparently.

HouseOfLametta - 20 Jun 2020 21:19:19 (#7 of 240)

Yeah, but you know what they're like.

solomongursky - 20 Jun 2020 21:33:58 (#8 of 240)

Tories are doing it:

Looks like 3 dead:

Police are understood to be treating the incident as a random attack and are not sure who is responsible.

TheValkyrie - 20 Jun 2020 22:31:13 (#10 of 240)

Guardian reporting three dead, two more in critical.

Man arrested.

foxybrown - 20 Jun 2020 22:57:29 (#11 of 240)

Sky just reported arrested man is Syrian

Verdigris - 20 Jun 2020 23:01:07 (#12 of 240)

Just as well Farage isn't here to stir up violence and Hatie Cockpins is banned from Twatter.

StakludKar - 20 Jun 2020 23:04:14 (#13 of 240)

Being treated as a terrorist incident. Suspect now claimed to be Libyan.

widenation - 20 Jun 2020 23:04:51 (#14 of 240)

There's a lot of poor media reporting on this awful incident.

BBC saying Libyan, but also saying that air ambulances landed in the park which clearly didn't happen.

StakludKar - 20 Jun 2020 23:06:06 (#15 of 240)

And there's enough fash still left on Twitter to be circulating footage of this and are convinced it's to do with the BLM protests

solomongursky - 20 Jun 2020 23:22:51 (#16 of 240)

Thick racists are calling the police liars:

There is no indication that this incident is linked to the Black Lives Matter protest that took place in Reading today.

Helicopters would have landed in the nearest place where it was safe - Forbury Gardens is quite small.

BBC were reporting quite early on that both BLM and the police stressed that the protest had been incident-free, was long over, and was unconnected with the attacks.

And it is NOT being treated, yet, as a terrorist incident.

An appalling thing has happened, but there's no call to misread reports in the light of any of your prejudices or expectations.

Tenesmus - 21 Jun 2020 09:11:36 (#19 of 240)

Libyan ex-con, they just said on the beeb.

darkhorse - 21 Jun 2020 11:50:23 (#20 of 240)

Treated as a terror incident now, it also says on the beeb. “Lone wolf”?

Nightmarish incident, whatever the motivation of the killer.
