Handy space on the left to put on a spraypainted effect:

dis

UNITED KINGDOM

MrPurple - 25 Jun 2020 23:06:34 (#2 of 80)

tbf it does look a lot nicer than the lo-vis grey

bossab2 - 25 Jun 2020 23:08:22 (#3 of 80)

Probably shows up just as well on enemy radar...

HouseOfLametta - 25 Jun 2020 23:08:24 (#4 of 80)

Twatforce one.

MrPurple - 25 Jun 2020 23:13:56 (#5 of 80)

Should've painted it in RAF Temperate Land Scheme. With Invasion Stripes.

CaptainBlack - 26 Jun 2020 07:30:21 (#6 of 80)

If it makes it easier to shoot down ...

The White Elephant

:-)

Particularly apposite if Johnson gets even fatter.

hailesaladdie - 26 Jun 2020 09:18:59 (#9 of 80)

Well, the back looks like a hybrid of defunct airlines AirUK and BMI, and the front somehow like the old Saudi Arabian Airlines.

hailesaladdie - 26 Jun 2020 09:20:40 (#10 of 80)

Or maybe Gulf Air.

Tenesmus - 26 Jun 2020 09:21:08 (#11 of 80)

Well it's not like you can use £900,000 for anything else, it's a trifle hardly worth mentioning.

Tagyourit - 26 Jun 2020 10:00:20 (#12 of 80)

The paint job did not cost 900k, that's the cost of the entire refurb which the ac would have to have undergone as a matter of course in order to retain its air worthiness. The refit would have included stripping the ac down to bare metal and repainting anyway. The only extra cost is the difference between repainting it grey and the new paint job which is negligible.

The fee “incorporates the cost of creating a design that will promote the UK around the world without compromising the plane’s vital military role”, the spokesperson said.

Nothing about a refit.

Refurbished (refit?) in 2015 for £15M.

EDITED TO ADD THE MISSING M

Re purposed

Tagyourit - 26 Jun 2020 12:21:47 (#16 of 80)

Hmmm I may have misunderstood or misread an article I saw on it. I'll see if I can find it.

Verdigris - 26 Jun 2020 12:32:44 (#17 of 80)

Bozfarce One (of a series)

HouseOfLametta - 26 Jun 2020 12:38:34 (#18 of 80)

Haven't the RAF got loads of transport planes? This just makes this one less useful.

Dementor - 26 Jun 2020 12:39:54 (#19 of 80)

The “United Kingdom” text looks a bit unsophisticated, if you ask me - white and flag looks better on its own.

quattrobhoy - 26 Jun 2020 12:45:18 (#20 of 80)

If they had a bit of sense they'd have used a vinyl wrap, so they can rip it off quickly when Scotland bails out!
