Sir Mark Sedwill has announced he will stand down from his role as cabinet secretary, national security adviser and head of the civil service in September.

His exit from No 10 is likely to be part of a wider shake-up of the civil service overseen by Cummings and Gove. Gove set out his manifesto for reforming the civil service on Saturday in a lecture with the title The Privilege of Public Service. The Cabinet Office minister said the “metropolitan” outlook of decision-makers had contributed to the government becoming “estranged” from the people.

Chilling stuff.

Patel said on Sunday that significant Whitehall reforms would soon begin. “This is the people’s government, delivering on the people’s priorities, and effectively any reforming government will be based around the type of delivery that our prime minister wants to drive for our great country and obviously have the right kind of support around him to deliver that,” she told Sky News.

'The People' being used in the same sense here as in The People's Republic of China.

Metropolitan elite kick out some other bloke because they say he's metropolitan elite.

We need bureaucrats who will deliver the People's Priorities, such as endorsing corrupt planning bungs.

Patel is a stone cold horror who should be thrown into an oubliette for crimes against the English language.

The Civil Service is massively dysfunctional and absolutely does need reform.

Probably true but this isn't 'reform' under any recognised definition.

Cummings survived the unsurvivable. For now he is immortal and has never been more powerful.

I don't want to derail the thread, but Rendered I watched Patel for the first time not long ago. What is going on in the way she speaks?

I honestly thought that she might have issues.

Like cowing in order to deliver the People's Priorities, as determined by Dominic Cummings and some Daily Mail lynch mob?

'Delivery Partner' corporate bullshit for siphon as much money out of the people's pockets via the public sector as possible.

The public sector does need reform, it's needs to stop employing private parasites, sorry delivery partners.

This is why he survived. He's got until the end of the year to wreak havoc.

I agree but I don't think the government is the one to reform it, more likely to make it an arm of the tory party.

It's like every thick boss you've ever had and ever will have.

Like any big institution there are a lot of bad habits and acres of deadwood.

I have nothing further to say.
