Because it's that kind of a moment

HorstVogel - 21 Jul 2020 11:27:34 (#2 of 1524)

what's he done now?

Moschops - 21 Jul 2020 11:33:57 (#3 of 1524)

Nothing! That's the problem

sympforthedevil - 21 Jul 2020 12:08:22 (#4 of 1524)

Fourth!

Rendered - 21 Jul 2020 12:08:36 (#5 of 1524)

I LIKE HIM!

HorstVogel - 21 Jul 2020 12:31:58 (#6 of 1524)

but he doesn't do anything.

perhaps that's the problem of it all, one needs to get the attention of the voters, doing bad things is better than doing nothing.

machiavelli - 21 Jul 2020 13:21:00 (#7 of 1524)

Jon Snow once remarked that whichever party was in power, they both accused him of bias because the gave them a harder time than the opposition. He said that he did this because they were the ones in power and actually doing things. For the same reason, it's probably hard for the opposition to get noticed and they need some way of getting and staying in the public eye.

But if they come up with a good idea, the governing party just steals it and ends up with the credit. So the opposition stay quiet, say nothing concrete and wait for the voters to get pissed off with the incumbents.

DesEsseintes - 21 Jul 2020 19:07:33 (#8 of 1524)

we live in ambiguous times

HouseOfLametta - 21 Jul 2020 19:08:16 (#9 of 1524)

What does that mean?

DesEsseintes - 21 Jul 2020 19:31:14 (#10 of 1524)

That there is nothing there, but nobody wants anything else to be there.

annetjie - 21 Jul 2020 19:38:47 (#11 of 1524)

I have come to the conclusion that we are where we are because of reality TV. It has moronified people's branes.

TigerPaws - 21 Jul 2020 19:39:28 (#12 of 1524)

Someone decided I didn't 'approve' of Starmer on the other thread when I suggested Labour is becoming an extension of the Tory party!

Unbelievably one poster suggested I should bring 'silence' to the thread.

There's a long history of the excluded being told to be silent, to shut up and remain powerless.

Labour is full of DuMal types.

FleurDuMal - 21 Jul 2020 19:39:29 (#13 of 1524)

I have come to the conclusion that we are where we are because of reality TV. It has moronified people's branes.

It hasn’t helped, certainly.

I blame Jade Goody.

FleurDuMal - 21 Jul 2020 19:40:36 (#14 of 1524)

Unbelievably one poster suggested I should bring 'silence' to the thread.

Oh dear, struck a nerve, did I?

TigerPaws - 21 Jul 2020 19:44:51 (#15 of 1524)

DuMal you are repeating the same old postures of superiority by virtue of your belonging to a particular gossip group on these threads.

FleurDuMal - 21 Jul 2020 19:46:37 (#16 of 1524)

Say what now?

DesEsseintes - 21 Jul 2020 20:10:10 (#17 of 1524)

these are decadent days

Moschops - 21 Jul 2020 20:33:20 (#18 of 1524)

Alright Hazel, calm down.

DesEsseintes - 21 Jul 2020 21:47:37 (#19 of 1524)

so

that was the end of Labour

post-Labour politics

post-parliamentary politics

what is it if anything?

maybe it isn't anything

Winner - 21 Jul 2020 21:59:09 (#20 of 1524)

I blame Jade Goody.

Yes, that was when the celebration of stupid seemed to really take off.
