Boris Johnson orders Army to plan for four-way winter disaster of coronavirus, Brexit disruption, flu surge and flooding

Army, councils and Whitehall all given August deadline for new contingency plan, as ministers try not to be caught out

It is in stark contrast to the Prime Minister’s public comments at his Downing Street press conference last week, in which he said it was possible the country could get back to normality by Christmas.

It's the new normal, innit.

I cannot see flu being a problem with this level of social distancing

More people indoors in winter, back at work.

If it's reliable why aren't other sites reportng this?

Because most of the media are owned by Russian oligarchs and other assorted baddies.

Google, for example, brexit winter army planning and you'll see a few newspapers have it.

bossab2 - 23 Jul 2020 19:49:56 (#11 of 100)

It'll be the plague of locusts which throws the spanner in the works.

hailesaladdie - 23 Jul 2020 19:55:43 (#13 of 100)

There's already been a plague of locusts this year, just not in the UK. Yet.

It's so unlucky, this totally unavoidable no-deal Brexit, it's like this massive asteroid that nobody can stop.

If only there were some way to not undermine the EU by lying about it for years on end, or some way to not campaign for leaving it, or not become Prime Minister on the basis of your ability to deliver this fucking stupid thing you enabled that you didn't even believe in, or even just defer it while you battle a major pandemic, which you could have done.
